The wringer does not work

I haven't seen a washer equipped with a wringer for many years. The last was a Hotpoint Countess we owned in the 1970's. In these models and similar (Servis) the power wringer was driven by a vertical shaft from the sort of substantial gearbox that would do adequate duty in a fair-sized motorcycle.

Sometimes the drive can be engaged/disengaged and sometimes constant. The drive of the model we had turned constantly and the disengagement lever was on the wringer. the shaft could be clearly seen rotating whenever the wringer was removed. If the shaft is turning the fault is likely with the internal mechanism of the wringer and if not the shaft and the gearbox should be investigated.

I have a Rubbermaid 7380 tandem mop can I put the wringer back on track?

It should have grooves on each side to slide the wringer into. Just slide them in place and you should be set.

Can't find value or date of manufacture of wringer washer(maytag)

I have a 1936 maytag gyratator wringer type electric washing machine in very good condtion - it works like a charm. What is it worth? I am out of room to continue storing it inside and it too good to leave outside - all the decals on it are like new with the exception of the bottom of the one with the years of maunfacture on it - it goes from 1922 to 1936

Apron caught under wringer

Hi Karen,
That is a real pain when that happens, but let me see if I can help.
First on the top of the agitator or wringer you will see a small cover. You will need to pop that off to reveal the screw hidden underneath. Remove the screw and then the agitator will pull upward and off. The agitator on the hotpoint washing machine is really hard to pull off so you will really have to pull. When the agitator comes loose you will ofter be pulling so hard that you could hurt your arm on the top of the tub so be extra careful or get some guy to get hurt for you. Once removed I am sure the apron can be easily removed and all will be well again. Good luck to you and please dont forget to rate me. Have a nice day.

Is it possible to remove the wringer out to clean inside it is putting out dirt onto my clothes in the wash cycle

Your machine has a wringer? Two rollers wthat squeeze the water out as the clothes go between them? I haven't seen one of those for forty years!

Anyway, the most likely source of dirty spots is a failing bearing seal which is allowing the grease from the bearings into the washing drum. If it isn't fixed the bearings will soon fail and that will be serious :-(

If I haven't understood your problem correctly please use the "add a comment" box and tell me again. Thanks, Dicky.
