I took my Royal HG120 apart and cleaned it good. Now the auto shutoff works fine. The Royal has 6 screws that I removed (make sure it's unplugged) and then vacuumed it out and then took a q-tip and rubbing alcohol and cleaned the sensors that are located in the middle of where you insert a piece of paper. I was surprised at how much paper was amongst the electrical parts. Perhaps I shouldn't use a bag... just the plastic container. The bag may push paper into place it shouldn't be. I also should empty it more often and not try shoving the paper down to get just a couple more pieces of paper shredded. Good luck!
sounds like the cutting wheels have something jammed inside them , can you take it bak and return it ? or open it up and see if anything looks bad inside ?
Had the same prob with a Schneider shredder. The roll pin that secures the nylon driven wheel to the blades shaft was sheared. Easy fix in a way but original pin was a metric size.
