Why does Windows not automatically detect Seagate 1F2168-300

Upon connecting device, Windows states that drivers are installed YET Windows does NOT detect the Hard Disk device automatically (as it has done with every other hard disk I have ever used).

1. You need Windows 7 or 8
Earlier OS can support up to 2TB max.
2. Even with Windows 7 or 8, 4TB HDD cannot be used as System
unless you have UEFI bios.

SOURCE: Windows

I've just installed the same type of hard drive in my PC running win XP and have no problems.. do u know that you need to format the disk before it will show up with the other accessible drives?

what to do is - click start, right click on my computer and go to manage.. then double click on storage, disk management local.. and it should show up here, once you format it your all set..

No need for drivers, windows has them already, it's all generic one's the windows is familiar with..

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: hard disk not being detected

This could be a driver issue or an external case issue,

most drivers are preloaded into the OS and are subject to normal wear, internet activity and software upgrades and new softwares should all require a level of understanding before fine tuning any compnents on a system, reason being if you tune the wrong things and in the wrong manner then you are inviting certain trouble, softwares have a tendancy to conflict with eachother at times, normally when you need it to work.lol.

I have come across the later ,the hard drive cases from He)).
I have seen 1 external drive case fail the drive 3 times and lost huge amounts of personal data, each time,
I had the drive extracted and that cost heaps more than the drive was worth,
so the supplier would honor the drives warrantee, yeah,
but not the contents we were trying to save them, whoopie.
I didn't really want to throw them in the bin,

After data is recovered, it should be moved to another drive to keep safe. The drive that was recovered has to be reformatted and checked for errors before storing more data.

Unable to install sbeagate 1TB backup lus to Acer Laptop

Completely shut off the computer. Wait for 1 minute. Power the computer back on. Plug in the AC adapter into the wall FIRST, then connect it to the Seagate Backup Plus. Wait for about 30 seconds for the drive to start, and windows should detect it automatically, and install the correct drivers to 'see' and access the drive. YOu do not need to install the Seagate Dashboard software, that comes on the drive, but you may want to, so you can use it to schedule your back ups. (Unless you are just using it for external storage.)

Hi can i get the drivers to install this cam in my computer? i dont have the disc

If you have a Windows operating system such as Windows 7 or Vista, they usually have the driver built in the operating system. If it doesn't, you can have the operating system automatically locate one on the Internet for you - make sure your computer can connect to the Internet by checking your browser. Plug the camera in and have the operating system detect the new device - you get a notification stating the device is connected and will attempt to install the driver - follow the directions on the prompts.

My brother mfc 5840cn won't install on my new laptop which has windows 7 my old laptop was xp

Brother has not released a printer driver specifically for Windows 7 and this model. You can however use a basic printer driver if the Windows Update feature of your operating system is set to "automatic:"

To set Windows Update to automatic, perform the following: (if you know it already is set to automatic, you may skip these steps)

1) Click "Windows Icon" (Start button) on taskbar

2) From the "Search Programs and Files" box type "change device installation" and start search

3) Click "Change device installation settings" - the Device Installation Settings window opens

4) If it is not already selected, select "Yes, do this automatically (recommended)"

5) Click "Save changes"

Now you are ready to have Windows search for and install the generic printer driver for your model. Your computer must be connected to the internet in order to complete this installation.

Note: If you have previously connected the USB cable, disconnect it from the computer and printer for now.

1) Power on your printer

2) Now connect the USB cable to the back of the printer, then to a USB port on the back of your computer (not to a USB hub or keyboard port)

3) Windows should now automatically search for and install the latest driver for your printer.

4) The "Your devices are ready to use" message may come up on your screen upon completion. You may have to click "Close [X]" to close this window.

You should now have a basic driver installed for your model of printer.

Driver not detected - backup failed

I assume Seagate suggested you "reinstall" the drivers. If that's the case, you may still need to refresh your computer's device list to properly identify the drive.

If you're running Windows you may try opening "Device Manager" and uninstalling the device from the list, then "detect hardware changes". This may make your computer redetect the drive like it's a new device, but may not.

I suggest phoning Seagate back and ask to talk to a knowledgable tech, not the scripted phoners.

What operating system ARE you running anyways?

Windows xp drivers for seagate ST3160203U2-RK

Drivers are not needed for this Ext HDD.
If you go to your Computer Management>Storage Devices, you will have to assign a Drive letter for it to show in your "My Computer" as a External Hard Drive.
Also ensure that drive is set as "slave" and do not connect until computer is booted to Desktop.
All changes will take effect after reboot.
