Good luck with the recovery cd. Most times they don't work, but you can
give it a shot. You just put the cd in the drive and boot from it and
follow the onscreen instructions. Most likely when you put the cd in
the drive, then turn the computer off, turn it back on, the computer
will most likely boot from it and start the recovery process. If not
when you turn the computer on look at the screen and see which key it
says to hit to Change the Boot Sequence or Boot Order, then hit that
key. You have to hit the key when you see the message or it will not
work and you will have to reboot and start over.
There might be instructions on the cd, so just look at the label on it.
I notice you are interested in installing a program instead of doing a
complete Recovery of the system. Some manufacturers give separate cd's
for the operating system and the application programs. If you have one
for the application programs that is the one you want to use if you are
only interested in reinstalling programs.
You can try reading the manual from HP Compaq's site.
Get online
and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HP
Support" or "Compaq Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Look for Manuals and search them for System Recovery.
