If the elements only works partially or not getting red hot at the "Hi" setting, the problem might be with a burned out receptacle that the elements plug into. If this is the case, replace both the elements and the receptacle.

You can usually tell when the element itself burns out. It might have small holes or bubbles on the coil. Replace the element, if found defective.

Another reason, why the elements will not start, might be a defective infinite switch (located behind the control panel, with the burner knob on its shaft). Replace the switch if found defective.

***If the elements check out ok and, the Infinite switch(if equipped) is in good condition, you will then need to replace the ERC(electronic range control). it has failed.

It sounds like the control board blew out. I have had a couple of these just blow like that lately. The bake and broil wont work. . Check for any bad wiring but the control board is most likely the culprit.

Hotpoint oven won't heat above 250 degrees broiler works fine as well as the stove top

either its the oven sensor rod located at the top of the ovens cavity,or your bake element could be getting a hot spot which is when it gets a discolored spot in the element and can no longer pass sufficient current to heat the oven past 250 degrees

My oven has increased only 65 degrees in almost an hour....what does it mean when it heats up, but SLOWLEY??

The broiler element on the top of the oven comes on during the preheat cycle to speed things up and then only the lower element keeps the temperature steady. One of those elements is bad, probably the broiler. Try using the broiler and see if it works. If not, you need to disconnect the elements from the oven and check them with an ohm meter. If gthe elements check out ok, then it must be the temperature sensor/thermostat.

Wont' heat in broil or bake

check incoming electric first, pull it out and gain access to main wire terminal, With multimeter set to at least 250v AC , check your power across the wiring as such. black to white (110v), red to white(110v) and then black to red 230v. if that ok ok turn, then start ckin elements for continuty also there might be a thermostat( usually an 1 in. round component with 2 wires located right inbetween the elements that has gone bad, will show no continuity. ck that before electronic control the fact that its clickin sounds like the relays are workin properly
