Installed sage accounts 2010 but it cannot access previous data

Phoned Sage support and they talked me through fix. Worked first time.
System had created "~OLDDATA" file which prevented upgrade. Merely deleted and restored from error free backup.

C:\program\SAGE\ACCOUNTS\REPORTS\\*TB.SRT contains an invalid pat

This message usually comes when the target location is not there or is renamed OR the address is wrong. Open My Computer, and go to the address you gave. Look if there is the file named *TB.SRT.

And by the way... the address you gave was "
C:\PROGRAM\\SAGE\ACCOUNTS\REPORTS\\*TB.SRT" BUT I believe that the address should be "C:\PROGRAM\SAGE\ACCOUNTS\REPORTS\*TB.SRT".
It is not possible that the address contains 2 slash (\\) repeatedly. Open the file by going to the My Computer OR by opening the software and by locating the file manually from there.

live chat assistance costs $19.99. And $12.99 for one time e-mail premium support.

If you have a registered product then I would suggest you to visit:
http://support.sage.co.uk/default.aspx?page=1
There you might find a solution at no cost.

Please inform if your problem is solved or not. And please rate if you found the above info useful.

My sage V11.01 has suddenly asked me for my password - can't remember it - does anyone know how I could find out? Can't even access help menu, it won't let me do anything.

The password is encryted as part of the setup.dta file sage or any Sage Business Partner can arrange to have it cleared. You can also try copying in setup.dta from the demodata but please backup your old one first, this option will replace all your user settings though.

If there is no backup or restore option, then data recovery service may help, or you need to redefine user access again.

Sage 50 Accounts 2008

I think I got the solution for you ...

User Name is Already in Use / Cannot Access YYY because XXX is logged in

Typically, when you get this message you will be asked if you want to remove the user from the request list. If you are asked this question, simply answer Yes and you'll be able to continue.

An alternative solution is to go in the data folder for your sage data (the default folder for versions prior to 14 is c:\program files\sage\accounts\accdata for v14, the folder is c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\sage\accounts\2008\company.000\accdata on XP and c:\programdata\sage\accounts\2008\company.000\accdata. In the data folder, you will find a file called QUEUE.DTA - delete the file and you should be able to get back into Line 50. If you have a multi user version of Line 50, you should only delete this file if you are sure that no-one else is using Line 50.
