that is your ignition wire
along the ignition wire (sometimes called the lead wire)
there is a diode this diode is braking down
and is not repairable
just replace the complete ignition wire
that should sort out your problem

Adding a new string has nothing to do with your spark. If your checking for spark make sure the spark plug is grounded to the engine either use a screwdriver to help you ground it. Lay the plug on the screwdriver shank then pull the cord. If still no spark remove a wire of the ground switch then try again. If you get spark then the switch is the issue if still no spark then you may have to check the leg gap of the coil to the flywheel. Adjust to around 11 thou if you can. If still no spark then i'd go on record to say you have a faulty coil.

I have no spark checked switch and replaced plug what else should I check

Check the coil. Pull the boot off of the plug. While holding the boot near a metal surface, darken the room and pull the starter rope. If you see a spark, the coil is good, if you don't, you just found your problem.

Not getting spark

replace the plug and if problem presists contact your local small engines mechanic. you can even test your spark plug to see if its getting spark as well by.

easiest way would be to take it out of the engine, reattach the wire, and put the end on something metal, then oull the rip cord. if theres spark, then HOORAY! if not, get a new one or adjust the height of the existing one. If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

hi there , pauly46 here

have you tried taking the kill wire off at ignition module and retry for spark - kill wire might be grounding or a faulty kill button or switch ,

make sure if the module had little spacers on the coil mounts to make sure that the magnet actually passed under the coil and trigger properly

air gap is usually 0.010 thou

other than that you may have a fauly coil from new
only way to know is to have your local shop test it for you ?

cheers hope it helps

Carburetor needs cleaning and probably diaphragms. Be sure to completely disassemble and pay very close attention as to where each diaphragm and gasket goes also make sure you remove the needle valve and clean screen.

Home lite String Trimmer Won't Start

be sure your kill switch is set to run positon and the wires from it arent grounding theirself out . Make sure your spark plug is
grnded to metal when you check for spark.(ground to head away from the spark plug hole
You may have a bad ignition module if you still have no spark or the flywheel keyway has sheared for some reason throwing it out of timing.(removal of flywheel is required to see if the keyways are aligned flywheel and crankshaft)
If your flywheel seems tight then you may be ok
not a high failure rate but it has happened.Gap your plug at .030 then.025 see if that makes a difference? keep going to a smaller gap to show you may have a weak module not able to jump a wider gap.
just a couple things to check hope this helps maybe
