Question about Vizio VF550M 55 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

55" Vizio LCD changes input when we turn volume up/down

If we try to change the volume, it changes it from HDMI1 (our satellite box) to regular TV input..... then we can change the volume, switch back to HDMI1, but then the input display box stays on the screen so we have to turn the tv off and back on

Hi it sounds like you have a software problem could be the epprom chip on the main board this is the memory chip, you could try the service mode and do a factory reset see if this cures the problem .
here is how you get into service mode Press "Menu," and then press "2," "4," "8," "9." do not adjust anything else just select reset , you will have to retune the tv in again hope it helps

More likely to be the backlight inverter board, or the main power supply for the inverter board is bad, power supply is easier to get to than the inverter board, so look there first. Look for burnt parts, bad capacitors.

SOURCE: VIZIO TV Black screen. Cannot turn off TV without unplugging.

I had a similar problem after having a Vizio for 2 and a half years. I left the room for a minute, i came back and the screen went black. I didnt hear an arcing sound though. There was still power to the unit and you could see that the back light was working, just no picture, no sound, and you couldn't use any of the buttons. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. It would then start up, with the Vizio logo going from orange to white, and then do the same thing all over, no pic or sound. I would check the ceramic fuse first on the board that gets power from the plug.

HOW I FIXED MINE: I ordered a new "main PCB" from tigerdirectparts.com (you can also use searspartsdirect.com). This is the circuit board with all of the inputs on it (hdmi, cable, etc.) I opened it up, disconnected the old one, put in a new one and now it works fine.I used both serial numbers on the board to search for it online. It cost me $144 to do it, but that's better than $450 for a new TV. My tv is the vx32l hdtv10a. I hope that helps.

Well It depends on what you mean by fade out, Fades out completely or just darkens enough to be annoying? I just bought this exact tv and mine also fades, I changed the preset picture function to "game" mode and the fading stoped.

If you have a box (cable, satellite, etc), you need to be sure it is also turned on. If the box is turned on, check that it's plugged in to HDMI 1. If it's not, that's your problem. Change your TV input to where the box is plugged in. Hope this helps

I have 32" hand spree TV hooked up to satellite box with a cable connected to the hdmi 1 port. Problem locking to hmdi1 port

Check in the menu of the tv do there is any option to select the input source. If so the select there its to hdmi 1. after that turn off the tv and ON again and check do it go back to TV mode.

Why does my tv turn on show logo then go black

It is possible that the TV is looking for an input signal that is not there. Make sure you have the correct input selected. Most remotes have a button to select input. Most cable boxes end up connected to HDMI1, but that is not a requirement for the TV to work.

Vizio m550nv backlight won't work

This TV comes with a remote that connects to the TV via Bluetooth. It remembers which equipment is connected to the various inputs, and automatically changes the controls to match the input equipment - really nice! I found that it will control all my equipment, and since it works via bluetooth, you don't have to have direct line-of-sight to the TV. Wish that the bluetooth part worked for my satellite equipement too! Programmable remotes will operate this TV, but depending on how old they are, they may not be able to hit all the features of the tv - our older directv remotes will operate the basic features, but only the newer models will change the input source - so you may want to use the remote that came with the TV. We have smaller kids, and wanted to limit their use of the tv remote, because it has a slide-out keyboard similar to those on some cell phones to make posting to facebook (one of the apps that comes on the tv) easy. Since our youngest is 5, we thought it might be best to keep that remote out of harm's way.

There is a "hissing" sound on low volume. Whazzup?

Do you have a cable box connected to it? I'm sure you do .. You might have the TV or the cable box at max volume ..

If you are using the TV as the main volume control try to lower the volume from the cable box, maybe to mid volume.

If you are using the Cable box as the main volume try doing the opposite from the above..

Hope this helps.

How do i get the tv off of anteena signal to cable signal

I could be more specific if you described what brand/model you have but you need to change the input. Depending on where you have the cable input from the box, you'll need to set the tv to that input (video 1, hdmi1, component, etc).

Older person cannot handle two remotes

You can program most satelite remotes to work on any device. Most are universal. If not, I suggest purchasing a universal remote. You can view remote codes online to program your device to your remote. New ones come with instrucions and codes.
