Direct tv d12 500

What is the difference between the Direct TV D12-100 and the D12-500? I plan on getting a receiver on e-bay for my RV. Just swithed home from Dish to Direct. Don't care about HD or DVR in RV.

SOURCE: combining output from dish home distribution with ota antenna

You should have your system setup in the following manner below:

You also will only be able to receive the HD locals with a HD OTA antenna. It is possible that you will need to turn the satellite off in this room to view the OTA's effectively.

Also you should use a splitter as depicted in the picture by the red boxes to combine signals of this frequency. The blue box is the diplexer on the incoming satellite feed and the black box is the seperator that most dual tuners use. If yours does not utilize this device you will have another cable coming from the outside of the house to the back of the receiver. The location of the ports on the back of the receiver in my diagram may differ in position on your receiver so obviously connect them to the proper port. I hope this ressolves the issue and there is no need to seperaate the signal at the remote tv as it will only be a duplicate of the same signal you have connected already as OTA and the TV2 backfeed are of the same frequency range.

Doublecheck your connections. The connection from the dish should be on "Satellite in", NOT "In from antenna." That is the most common mistake that is made.

SOURCE: direct receiver is not responding to remote

if you go to: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P4380052#h:1020.450

it has different remote codes. you would have to select "satellite setop box" also you need the model # of the receiver which can be found (normally) behind a door on the front panel of the receiver on a sticker (where the access card and reset button are) if its not a directv receiver, (hughes, etc) then it would probably be on the back of the receiver you would see a sticker with the model # of this receiver.

the first code should be 00001 follow the instructions on how to program on that website.

ViewSonic 37" Wide (N3733W) TV Set that is connected to Direct TV has picture but no sound.

Based on your description, it is possible that the power supply is starting to go. Before doing anything, first check to see if it is the TV or the source. Use a few different sources to narrow down the problem. You didn't mention what type of hookup you used from the receiver to the TV. Assuming you are using HDMI, it is possible that the cable is intermittent. Try using a different one. Also try as below.
1. Once the TV is working with sound, what happens if you turn the TV off and then back on, is the sound still there?
2. Use the TV antenna input to see if you can replicate the problem using an antenna. If the problem is indeed the TV, it should do the same with the antenna.

We have a Audiovox VCR player that we ordered from Ebay for our RV but did not receive cables and we cannot find cables for it that works with the TV. Why is it different?

Mine has normal RCA jacks for Audio/Video & cable TV ports in & out. I do not understand your problem unless it is the Console wiring. Look into console (original set was for Toyota Van). Unit easily removed & cable can be snaked directly to units.. I took my console apart for components which use less space using direct power lead in with fuse & radio shack plug & a short cable TV jumper for signal from VCR to TV

I am trying to program a Direct TV remote control to an Olevia television in my RV. They say I need a code to do so, do you have one?

Inside the manual for the direct tv should be a list of codes for ALL brands of tv. You should look there first.

Used receiver at different location for 3 months.

Had repair man come. The coax connection going to TV from receiver had went bad in the receiver. The other connectors in box worked but not the coax anymore that is why the box worked on other TV since using video and sound cables. Got new box for signing up for another 18 months with Direct TV. Didn't have to have splitter to just get Satalite so that wasn't the problem at all. Any of the splitters I had would have worked.

if both receivers are plug into their own inputs on the back of the television, go into the remote set up screen and program the av1 or av2 as a seperate receiver. this will all the remote to send a different signal to the receivers so they wont change at the same time.
