Question about Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 Netbook (IM1012799OBK)

Dell Mini 1012 black screen on bootup no Dell logo

I have a dell mini 1012 and when I turn it on getting black screen no dell logo, no beeps, I know it boots into OS but can not see anything on screen. Tried fix for corrupt hibernation file. Holding function key and power button at same time, this is for Windows 7 but I am running Ubuntu 10.10, tried to drain flea power by removing battery and AC adapter holding power button for 30 secs. Same thing, no dell logo just black screen. Could it be a loose LCD connector or video card is crapped out? Any ideals? I have not taking apart yet, may check LCD connectors or possible reseat RAM memory I have other RAM I can try, I have not been able to find any information/help for this issue so far.

If you get no beeps, then your CPU has failed.

I have a dell mini 1012 will not boot, after the dell logo screen and blue bar is complete I get a black screen with a white cruser flashing in the upper left corner. This mini has no cd drive.

Do you happen to have either an external hard drive or usb flash drive plugged in? If so remove it and reboot, your computer is trying to boot off of it.
If no, enter BIOS and see if the computer is detecting your hard drive at all.
If no replace your hard drive and reinstall the OS, if it is detected...

7 beep error message for dell inspiron mini 1018

For the Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 Netbook, 7 beeps indicates bad memory (system RAM). The memory will need to be replaced.
The RAM can be replaced using a small Phillips screwdriver and removing the back-plate on the bottom of the laptop. When you see the memory (sticks around 3 inches long), pull those out and put new ones in. Make sure it's the correct DDR2 memory.
Good luck!

I try to upgrade bios in a dell mini 1018 ...and now dont start nothing ..only black screen

If the bios upgrade was not the correct version, came from a source other than dell or is corrupt speak to dell. There may be a way of resuing the motherboard.
Hope that helps.

The laptop screen will not come on. it shows the dell powerup logo then goes black. The monitor lights are on so it is getting power but it isn't showing anything on the screen

If it's a Mini 1012 there is a VGA (15 pin) connector on the left side of the laptop. You can try to connect an external monitor to see if you get a display. If you do, then your LCD display has a problem and needs to be replaced. If you have a Mini 1010 there is an HDMI jack on the right side of the laptop where you can connect an external monitor.
