SOURCE: Whirlpool oven that does not broil

Nabril, looks like you have a thermal fuse in the broil circuit. Take your meter and on the control board go to connector P2-2, should be a blue wire. Pull the connector off and see if you have continuity from the blue wire to the red wire on the terminal block (where the cord connects) power off, wires off. If you don't have continuity, it's probably that fuse. If you do, the only other thing I would think it could be would be the relay itself. The schematic does not show the placement of this fuse. It could be on the back panel or under the main top. Check out the pic. Part number..3196548 Catriver..post back.

It is very common for elements to "catch fire" when they fail. It is really electical arching. But to answer your question you shouldnt be concerned if it ever happens to the bottom element immediatly kill the breaker it will stop instantly. dont use a fire extinguisher as it wont stop the arching. And most ovens do use the upper broil element for baking for very short intervals like 10secs on every minute or so to brown the top of product. Some models (especially older builder line ) do not

Baking & broiling elements won't heat after baking element burned out and was replaced.

the surge from the original element burning out has destroyed the control board if you can't hear the relays on the board clicking when you power up the elements bake or broil then its either the low voltage side of the board,if you hear clicking then the relays are working but the contacts are burned out and can't pass the current to heat the oven or briol elements

No heat when set to broil but the bake turns on the broil element. nothing turns on the bake element. are the wires hooked back correctly?

see the next steps and proceed according with commong sense: God bless you
Usually, when an oven won't broil, it's because the broiler element is burned out. The broiler element in an electric oven is the black, pencil-thick tube at the top of the oven. When the broiler is on, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it. To determine if the heating element is burned out, watch the part testing video at the bottom of thi

GE kitchen range model J3220RIWH turn to bake only bottom element heats up. turn to broil top element heats up so it's not burned out. should'nt both elements heat up on bake.

Not necessarily. Some models never use the broil element to bake and some cycle between the two but not both on at the same time.

My Jenn air SVD48600P heating element dose not heat

Hi. I believe this info. may assist you in getting your bake and broil up and running:

When your heating element burns out, you have to replace it because they are not repairable. If, when the heating element burns out, the infinite switch that controls it also fails, you have to replace it too.

Range will not hold a consistent temperature

Good chance your bake element is out. Could be the element or a terminal burned off.
When you set to bake, normally it preheats which uses the bake and broil element.
When it reaches "near" temp, the broil goes off and the bake takes over.
If the bake element, (the one in the bottom), is not working, the temp will decline.

Check:
Turn to 450 deg.
Watch the elements, assuming you have a door with a glass, and see if both elements, top and bottom, glow red.

Broiling works but baking does not work

CHECK FOR 240VOLTS AT THE TERMINALS OF THE BAKE ELEMENT. GAIN ACCESS BY REMOVING THE BACK PANEL OF THE RANGE. SOMETIMES THE TERMINAL WILL BURN OFF OF THE WIRE GOING TO THE ELEMENT. THE WIRE WILL JUST BE HANGING THERE. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE OVEN BEFORE REMOVING BACK PANEL. IF THE WIRE IS BURNT, REPLACE THE TERMINAL AND REATTACH TO THE ELEMENTS TERMINAL. IF THE TERMINAL IS DAMAGED, REPLACE BAKE ELEMENT.
IF THERE IS NO VOLTAGE TO THE ELEMENT, REPLACE CONTROL.

Oven will not heat to requested temperature

Shaffy, When baking only the bake element should heat. When broiling only the broil element (upper) should heat. Your oven is a Kitchenaid, you have a 5 year warranty on any electronic element or control board. You may have a temperature sensor that is not working right. The oven just might need to be calibrated, the instructions would be in your owners manual. Your bake element might be failing, it would have to be ohmed out. You also need to verify that the bake element is getting 240V. when turned on. Catriver...post back
