Question about Apple iPod touch

IPod Touch got wet and the battery won't charge

I have an iPod Touch (1st gen, 8 GB) that was dropped into water. It's
been fully dried out but now the backlight doesn't work and it doesn't
seem to charge and will power down when the cord is attached to it. I
have the skill to fix it myself but I need to make sure what parts to
replace. would replacing the screen and the battery correct the problem?

Sorry, that will not help. When I look at water damaged iPod, 99% of the time something inside has been shorted out and has to be replaced to fix it (that is if the other parts are still working okay). From what you are describing about it not having power on its own, it sounds like the logic board inside was fried. This part can be replaced, but it would be about the same price to fix as it would be to buy a new 8GB 2nd Gen.

Dead not connect charging

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Ipod touch (2nd Gen) with water damage

The touch screen is not physically attached to the screen, if water was anywhere near the bottom of the ipod it may have triggered the water damage unit inside the bottom. Water also may have leaked into the unit frying the circuits. You'll have to visit an Apple store or Apple.com/support for repair.

My screen is just white

Try to reset it. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the battery symbol appears, continue to charge iPod touch until it is fully charged.

If this doesn't work, try restoring the iPod from within itunes.

The ipod 1st gen will not turn on

Buy replacement rechargeable battery and ipod opening kit on e-bay for cheap. Then go on you tube and watch the installation videos.

Unless you dropped this thing or got water on it, then your fu.k.d and you should throw it out and get a new one.
