\$ 5.98 was the sales tax.

To find this divide the total by 1 plus the sales tax percentage. This will yield the pre-tax total, then subtract that from the total.

Thus 101.65/1.0625=95.67 and 101.65-95.67=5.98

### My total sale is \$101.65. I collected 6.25% sales tax. What is the formula to find out the portion of the total is the sales tax total?

Partly this is a matter of interpretation. If \$101.65 is seen as 100% then sales tax is
\$101.65 x 6.25 / 100 = \$6.35

However there is a flaw in this. The remainder (the sale price) is
\$101.65 - \$6.35 = \$95.30

So what was the sales tax on this remainder?
6.35 / 95.30 x 100 = 6.67%........too much

So we should regard the \$ total as 106.25% not 100%. Then the amount which was sales tax is really
\$101.65 x 6.25 / 106.25 = \$5.98

### How much is the total sale tax on a passanger car price at 17000 dollars with a 2000 trade allowance

Hello! It would depend on the State your buying the vehicle...In North Carolina, in lieu of a sales tax, a 3% tax is charged each time the title is transferred...However, assuming a tax of 7%...

\$17000.00
- 2000.00
\$15,000.00 X 7% = \$1050.00 + \$15,000 = \$16,050.00

hi lilwallace;
The federal excise tax of 8% on the round trip ticket is calculated by multiplying 8% times the price of the ticket. Remember 8% is written as .08 when we multiply.
\$832 times .08 = \$66.56 is the excise tax

\$832 times .06 = \$49.92 is the sales tax

Now we just add the ticket price plus the excise tax and the sales tax and we get \$832 + \$66.56 + \$49.92 = \$948.44

Hope this helps Loringh PS Please leave a rating for me.. Thanks

### Casio Register 265P - Doubling Tax in Sales Total

Hi.
That could be tricky. we will need to go through the tax setup in your machine.

My first questions are:

1. Does it happen on all department (item buttons)?
2. Does it happen no matter what payment method you use (cash, check, credit)?
3. When you push Subtotal, does it show the wrong amount then, or only when you press a payment type to open the drawer?
