Question about Kenmore Refrigerators
My Kenmore elite model # 79577563600 is leaking water into the bottom freezer compartment and is now leaking out of the bottom of the unit. I was told to do a defrost reset but cannot find specific info on that. now this morning I woke up to it making a loud humming noise that stops as soon as I open the doors and begins again when the doors are closed.
As for the water part sounds like the drain is pluged.most of these drains have a trap.just like your sink only a lot smaller, and get alge growing in them.to clean you must remove the lower back wall of the freezer, drain hole will be at the bottom of the drain pan below the coils,be very careful not to make a hole in the coil or it WILL cost you.i use a ball pien hammer and flat tip screwdriver to remove all the ice i can.then i have a squirt bottle that can make a stream and a rubber hose that will go down the hole,5-16 fits a lot.HOT water in bottle down the hole.hose in hole, blow,no good?pull water out with mouth, blow into pan, repeat.may take a few times, may take an air tank.if not cooling good you may find the coils are frosted up, no defrost!could have evap. fan staled.that will give the drain issue.if this is the case you need to call for help.hope this helps.

You are probably correct that it is the evap motor. If you are seeing frost on the back wall then there is probably some ice built up around the motor and the fan blade is hitting it.
Try defrosting the freezer and look very closely all around the seal for the freezer drawer. It is common for moisture to freeze in the self closers in the drawer rails and not let the drawer close completely on one side or the other. If this happens the small gap will allow the freezer to frost excessively.
Sorrry to be slow in responding. I have been very busy this week and have not been on line very much.

That sound is usually your icemaker calling for water. you can turn off your icemaker by lifting the little arm on the icemaker. As the icemaker calls for water the valve will be activated and will hum. This sound is usually not very loud. If your valve is making that much noise you may consider replacing the valve. The part number for you water inlet valve is #2315533 The retail price is $60.18 . I do have these on hand and available to ship out today if you need one. Please just let me know. You may also consider replacing your filter if your refrigerator has one. Thanks and I hope this will fixYa

SOURCE: Freezer compartment ice build-up
too defrost just open the doors for a day with the unit unplugged. as far as why it is frosting up check door seals make sure they are all good and seal it up well and that should take care of it.

Hi It sounds like the evaporator fan. It could be hitting some frost on the evaporator coil. Remove the rear panel inside the freezer section and see if something is in the fan blade or if frost is building up on the coils. If there is frost (more then just a thin film) you might be having a defrost issue.
please let me know what you find so I can assist you further.

Turned off the fridge, emptied the Freezer, used a blow dryer for 20-30 minutes, to melt ice that had built up in vents at rear of freezer.
Cleaned the freezer and reloaded...no hum..at least for now.
