Question about GE Microwave Ovens
My JVM1860BD001 will not turn on. I have power to the panel, lights, and fan. I checked the secondary door switches and they both close when the door closes. The fuse is good. I have read that the turntable motor can cause this problem but I have a relative with a similar model and a bad motor and the oven works fine. Thanks!
You need to use an ohm meter on the switches to verify that they are actually opening or closing electrically. You could also have a bad thermal protector. Check for one on/near the magnetron to make sure it has continuity. And, there are many other less likely causes, as well. Too many to list.

It's probably a bad door switch or switch mount. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk Feel free to contact me directly if you have further questions. I appreciate your thoughtful rating of my reply.

If the turntable runs when you try to cook with the microwave portion, then the problem is either a bad relay on the control board (RY2, primary interlock relay) or something wrong in the high voltage section.
If a high voltage problem, it may be as simple as a loose connection on the magnetron terminal or a bad high voltage rectifier diode or as costly as a high voltage transformer or magnetron.
Most of the time the magnetron will have a 5-9 year warranty, and you would only have to pay labor charges to have it fixed. If you take it to the shop yourself, you can save quite a bit.
Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

If one of the door interlock switches
is not switching properly or there is a condensation problem on the
sensor control panel, either can cause the turntable/light/oven to
come on even though the "Start" button has not been
depressed due to the wiring of the switches or it can take the mains power fuse out and stay faulty.
Check for faulty door switches and/or contaminated actuators.
Alternatively, the magnetron, supply or HV diodes can fail and take the mains fuse out.
I hope that helps.
