You may have a bent bar inside the machine (big trouble), needle error is easy it is just to wind the big nob at the back of the machine, make sure you are on the correct needle when you move it, on mine it is a little stiff, just do it slowly. The engineer just bent my bar back into shape, that was 1yrs ago. Good luck have fun :-)

In most cases customer were emb. bags when or after you get this error message, there is a sensor under the x-axis; horizontal arm; that gets hit and breaks you can try to get a dealer to sell you the sensor and repalce it yourself its really easy, one screw on the side of the x-axis cover and it lifts and slides off and one screw for the sensor plus two flexible flat cables plug into it

I took the case off, and was able to raise the lever, and am NOT getting the error msg anymore. However, now machine is out of time (I think) I want to fix it myself...can I?

See if you can discover how to reset the machine. Typically it is a combination of buttons pressed either simultaneously or in order as the machine is starting.
