Remove the rear louvered panel on the lower left, make note of how the belt is routed around the motor, and tension pulley, also note which direction the belt grooves are facing, remove the belt by applying pressure to the tension pulley against the spring, the belt will come off, allow the pulley to gently retract back releasing pressure on the spring. Use a rigid puddy knife and insert in the front crack under the main top on the front approx 2 - 3" in from each corner gently pushing against each spring lock while simultaneously lifting each corner of the top, the main top then just lifts up, is hinged at the rear, and can rest against the back wall. There are probably 2 Phillips screws holding the front panel on at the top left and right, and usually 2 hook clips on the bottom. remove the top screws, disconnect the door switch and lift the panel up. The drum has a round ball bearing looking knucke on the rear, you will need to lift the rear of the drum up and out of it's socket.

How to put the belt on

You need to remove the drum in order to replace the belt so that you can inspect and grease the rear bearing. Once the belt is around the drum and you know the glides and rear bearing is in order you make sure the belt is not twisted. You move the idler to the right and run the belt over the top of it and under the motor pulley.

How to get into the machine:

Note: westinghouse frigidaire gibson and kelvanator dryers are all basically the same.

Help my dryer is eating my clothes

This is a common occurance in Frigidaire dryers and GE dryers. The glides wear out and the drum usually scrubs to begin with. On GE dryers the glides are mounted on plastic bearing. So the noise is not so much but it will still begin to bind up and to pinch. To replace the glides is very easy. Open the door to remove screws holding down the top. Or use a putty knife to pop the top on some models. Then remove the front panel. The bearing pops off and the glades are fairly easy to replace. I have a repair page on GE dryer HERE

417.91702000 Broken dryer belt and felt replacement

To get inside the dryer portion you start by removong the top making a note of where the screws mount makes it easier to put back right later but is no big deal. After removing the top you remove the splashplate and then the controlpanel. The panel has quick connects so the wiring will be no problem. Once the control panel has been removed get the front panel off ad remove the drum.
IThese dryers comewith 2 different styles of glides. The drum mounted version and the front panel mounted versions. The glide kit comes with glue also. I have a page which features videos and more on frigidaire dryers. HERE

Were is the thermal fuse located on the frigidaire fde336res1

It is located on the rear bulkhead upper right hand corner. Ti access it you pop the top with a putty knife and remove the front panel. Get the drum out. I recently worked on one and did a video:

The smaller disk is the fuse. If blown the dryer will not run

How do you replace the plastic fins inside the drum

You pop the top and use a screwdriver to put the fins back.themobilian_3044.jpg
See the spring clip? Use a putty knife to release the top
Then you can open the door and hold the fin inside while you use a screwdriver to put them pesky fins back in there.

Gibson Dryer Belt Diagrams and Replacement

Your dryer belt has broken and you have a new belt to install, but you do not know how to route the belt properly. Here are some pictures or diagrams to help you see how the belt needs to go. Of course the belt needs to go around the drum so that is not included.
The important part is the routing around the motor and the tensioner pulley.

!970- 1995 models use this diagram

Style: Flat with ribs
Installation Tips: Ribs face toward drum

1995 – present models use this diagram

Style: Flat belt
Installation Tips: Side of belt with words faces away from drum

Need to know how to remove the back panel of a gibson dryer model # DE27T3WXFC to repalce heating coil.

you access the heating coil from the front after removing the drum.  it is sitting on the back wall behind the drum and can be removed that way.

Have a gibson dryer trying to fiqure out how to get in it to replace the belt.

If it is a front loading machine, most of the time you will remove the top, then the front of the machine to get to the drum and belt. If you remove the drum and belt, the that will expose the drum rollers, idler arm with pulley and the motor.
While you got the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. It will save you noise problems later.
Good luck,
I hope this helps
