Drum and Power On

After the end of drum life, the printer turned off by itself. I replaced the drum but it doesn't power on. Is there anything I can do to fix that?

Have the printer "Fuser" tested. It might be the reason behind that.

SOURCE: drum end soon, what does that mean

It means that the drum will end soon. The drum is the piece that holds the printer cartridge. It costs about 115+ dollars at the store, but on ebay, you can get it for a good 60 bucks. :)

Konica minolta pagepro 1500w drum error

The Pagepro 1500 is an older design and the drums on those are only rated for around 12,000 pages or so. Unless you have a computer that can query the printer directly to get the error code the print driver is giving I can only recommend disconnecting power, remove toner, remove and replace drum, replace toner and reconnect power. (Cold reset) But, if the drum has reached its end-of-life then the only option is to replace the drum. At that point it's better just to buy a new printer; the drum replacement cost will probably be prohibitive.

How to extend the life of a TN-330 drum kit for MFC-7840W Wireless Printer

If you have received any of the following messages on your Brother MFC-7840W wireless multifunction printer while utilizing the TN-330 drum kit then you may not have to replace your drum, at least not yet.

Drum End Soon
Drum Error
Toner Life End
Toner Low

I had this issue happen to me about 150 pages ago (some text, some pictures) and I still haven't replaced my drum after I executed this little trick.

Take your drum kit out of your printer (make sure you turn off and unplug any cables first)

Take some black electrical tape and cut a inch by inch square off.

Place the black tape over the optical port as shown in the picture below.

Then put the drum back into the printer, cable everything back up and turn the power on.

Your drum should last a long time beyond what was supposed to be a low toner.

Hopes this saves you some money.

Printer is dsplaying"drum error" to

Hi,

According to your problem, may be the drum is not usable now. But first clean the toner drum properly. May be this may occurs for setting of the drum in printer. So resets the drum carefully inside the printer after clean it. Then reboot the printer and the system both. If it doesn't solve your problem then change the toner. It may help you or you have to change the drum or cartridge.

I turn the printer on and it goes solid red right away. i try to print and it doesn't do anything

Either the drum or the toner needs replacing. If you've replaced the toner recently, then the drum has reached its end of life (counter controlled). You'll have to replace the drum before it will come back to life again.

How long will the drum last on a Brother HL 5140 when the yellow drum light starts flashing

I have reused the drum for three life cycles and the print quality is still good. Just reset the counter until the print quality suffers because the cost of the drum exceeds the price of a new printer. According to Brother to reset the counter
  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Press and hold the Go button on the front of the printer, at the same time turn the printer power on.
  3. When the Toner light is on by itself, release the Go button.
  4. Push and hold the Go button again, release the Go button when the Paper light is on by itself.
