The only thing that can be done is to scan and search for partitions (i.e. perform virtual partition recovery), and in case if something is found - display them and give the user an opportunity to save important data to another location. Third party software, like Active@ UNERASER, will help you here. The only thing that can be done is to scan and search for partitions (i.e. perform virtual partition recovery), and in case if something is found - display them and give the user an opportunity to save important data to another location. sounds like your MBR is messed up....if you have system mechanic, you can use it as an emergency boot up and fix MBR disc....otherwise, you'll have to use either an OEM builders disk or the requested disc [ACHI cd-rom ] to reboot from.another option would be to try this;http://download.cnet.com/MbrFix/3000-2094_4-10485990.html?tag=mncol;1
get someone to download it for you, or go to the library with a flash drive to record it to, then burn it to a disc, then place it in the computer and reboot, it should reboot from the cd drive first....however it is best to check first...so reboot now, and tap the f1 or f2 key to reach the bios screen...arrow over to the boot option, and follow prompts to make sure the boot order is cd rom 1st, then f10 [ save and exit ] then reboot, then add the MBR fix disc you made AFTER , then reboot again...let me know what happens

MRB Error message on Gateway laptop 6510GZ. how can we resolve?

First of all I'm not this smart. I found it and pasted it here for you from:
http://www.pcpowerguide.com/windows/damaged-mbr-error-message/

They get all the credit!

MBR is the acronym for Master Boot Record. The master boot record is located in the boot section of your hard drive, which is the first sector on the first platter. When you boot your computer, the master boot record tells the computer's BIOS (Basic Input Output System) where to find the bootstrap code for the operating system.
So if the MBR is corrupted, the BIOS can't find the operating system and you can get error messages like the following ones:
  • Missing operating system
  • Error loading system
  • Invalid partition table
Looks pretty scary, doesn't it?
However, it is usually not that hard to fix a corrupted MBR and usually the rest f the hard drive is just fine and will boot normally once your fix the master boot record.
What Causes Damage to the MBR? A lot of things can cause damage to the MBR such as viruses designed to corrupt the boot sector. Some of them copy the original MBR to another file. Others do this by overwriting the MBR with virus code. In fact viruses and malware are one of the most frequent causes but, any file can become corrupted especially files that are accessed as frequently as the MBR.
How to Fix the MBR The stapes to fix the MBR are slightly different in the different versions of Windows. So I will cover them separately.
Windows XP
  1. Insert your XP installation disk in the CD-Rom and reboot the computer
  2. When asked, press any key to boot from the CD
  3. When you get the Welcome to Setup screen, press "R" to open the repair console
  4. Enter your administrator password when prompted
  5. At the command prompt, type fixmbr and press enter
  6. When a new command prompt appears, type exit
  7. Remove your installation CD
  8. Restart the computer
Windows Vista
  1. Insert your Vista installation disk in the CD-ROM and reboot the computer
  2. When asked, press any key to boot from the CD
  3. When you get the Install Windows screen, fill in the language and location options and then click Next
  4. Click on the Repair your computer option
  5. Select the Windows Vista operating system and click Next
  6. Enter your administrator password when prompted
  7. In the System Recovery Options, select Command Prompt
  8. When a command prompt appears, type bootrec.exe and press enter to fix the MBR
  9. When a new command prompt appears, type exit
  10. Remove your installation CD
  11. Click Restart in the System Recovery Options window
Windows 7
  1. Insert your Windows 7 installation disk in the CD-ROM and reboot the computer
  2. When asked, press any key to boot from the CD
  3. When you get the Install Windows screen, fill in the language, Time and Keyboard Input options and then click Next
  4. Click on the Repair your computer option
  5. In the System Recovery Options, select Command Prompt
  6. When a command prompt appears, change to the boot directory
  7. Now type bootsect /nt60 SYS and press enter to fix the MBR
  8. When a new command prompt appears, type exit
  9. Remove your installation CD
  10. Reboot the computer

I have an aspireone notebook and the re-image software now is not working at all all i get is cant find mbr

Can't find MBR is a serious error.
The computer cannot find the required boot section of data on the hard drive.
Reboot the laptop with the Install disk and when it gets to the menu option select "Repair System".
It should replace the missing files and get you going again.
Regards.

Disk read error occured

If not give it a go and do a repair if needed again!

1- You may have a corrupt MBR (master boot record)!! You will need to reformat and do Fdisk /mbr to delete the master boot record!! Save all data first as this will not allow you to access any of your data as all file location addresses are located in the MBR!!

2 - Your harddrive may have a bad sector get a zerofill tool(low level formatting tool)!! This will rewrite you HD's sectors putting them back to factory spec's!! Maxtors is called Maxblast you can get it from thier site!!

3- or it could be a defective drive, but most read errors are due ot corrupt MBR or a bad sector!!

MBR error

MBR = Master Boot Record
It could be that you have a bad hard drive.
Yes, test the CD in another computer (just abort the install after you establish it is ok).
It could also be that your BIOS may be having a problem (the can boot from CD).

How old is the laptop?
