How to prime a sand filter pump

It depends on the pump but most pumps have a filter bowl with a screw on cover - you need to fill this with water and start the pump. if the pipework connected to the pump and the filter are empty you will usually have to repeat this process a few times, but once the pump is primed it should start up without repriming in future - Hope this helps - Nigel

Hozelok Titan 2000 pump not pumping. Electricity is getting through, pump making a funny noise but not pumping.

You have to prime the pump first. Turn off the pump, remove the priming cap, fill with water, close, then run it. Repeat as needed to get water pumping.

Hi ! Nothing to clean on this, just make it pump some hydroponics cleaning pump products with distilled water to remove the deposit without taking risk to damage your system/plants. Thanks and have a nice day J -

How do I prime my outside of the pond waterfall pump?

I would take the intake hose off the pump and fill it with water and with the pump running I would hokk upthe intake hose.

I also would if possible have the pump lower than the pond.

PUMP RUNS BUT DOES NOT **** UP WATER

I have experienced this same problem and all I needed was to prime the pump. Unless your pump cannot pump up that high.

What happens if I don't change the water filter in fridge?

It will eventually clog up, and the water volume will become less and less untill it is a tickle, and eventually stops.

It could also cause premture failure of the valve/pump.

Pond pump types

There are basically two types of pond pumps to choose from - externally mounted and submersible. External pumps were traditionally used in water gardens. They sit outside the pond, with a hose that leads from a strainer in the pond to the pump. From there the water is forced either to a waterfall, stream or fountain. Because external pond pumps are often noisy and require extra plumbing, they are usually not suited for most backyard ponds. Due to easier accessibility and ease of repair, however, external water pumps are often the best choice for larger water gardens and public installations. Submersible water pumps are usually preferred by most do-it-yourselfers. They sit underwater where they are quiet and unseen. These pumps are easy to install, require no priming and stay cool thanks to the surrounding water. Submersible pumps draw water from the bottom of the pond, either through a strainer or biological filter. A hose attached to the outlet then feeds water to whichever water feature you have installed.
