Cub Cadet 1500 hydrostatic mower at idle hear a clunk in back

While the mower is idling there is a clunking sound in the back - not by the engine. It is every 2 seconds. Not very loud. Frequency increases with engine speed, but can't hear it after engine is at 1/3 speed. The clunking sound doesn't get louder with faster engine speed. I haven't tried going forward or backward to see if it continues. The sound is like a hammer hitting a large metal component - like trying to put the deck into a different level selector and it falls into place. The mower is 2-1/2 years old, always kept in the garage.

We have a cub cadet a knocking sound is coming from the back when in gear. What could be problem. Sounds fine when idling

Trans axle is shot. Unfortunately they are generally not repairable as parts aren't even available and replacement units are expensive. A used unit is tour best bet.

Why is my Series 1000 LT1024 Hydrostatic Drive Cub Cadet not pulling?

In most cases the hydrostatic drives are not made by the company tractor or lawnmower.
This is in the owners manual.

Hydrostatic Transmission
The hydrostatic transmission is sealed at the factory
and is maintenance free. The fluid level cannot be
checked nor can the oil be changed. Always keep the
area around the transmission cooling fan free of grass
and debris at all times

I have a cub cadet RZT 54 that was purchased in the spring of 2009. The mower cranks and runs fine but the blades will not engage. Have looked at electrical connections and everything looks fine.

Do you hear a "clunk" when you engage the PTO switch, but the blades don't turn? If so, then check the mower deck belt - is it properly threaded, and tensioned by the idler pulley? If there's absolutely no sound when you engage the PTO switch, the problem is likely electrical (even though everything looks OK). The PTO switch, PTO clutch, and the reverse lockout switches (near the bottom of the fwd/reverse control arms) should be checked. I don't think there's a separate fuse for the PTO on your mower, but there may be a relay. Even though these parts and connections look OK, they can fail internally. Best bet is to get a multitester and check each of them with the ohmmeter function.

I have a cub cadet mower and it has the hydrostat trans drive and I hit a tree root in the yard and the tractor quit moving. The mower deck still runs so is there a belt broken or what could be wrong?

There are two belts - the main drive belt from the engine to the hydrostatic transmission, and the mower belt that runs from the engine to the mower deck. Sounds like the main drive belt broke or came off. It's not an easy job to replace because it's up against the chassis underneath, and you usually have to remove and replace some parts to get at it. Take a look under there, see if the belt's gone, and decide if you want to tackle it or have a shop do it.
