I don't know about linksys but in Cisco you can use a TFTP Server Program, put the firmware that server, and boot up the phone. In Cisco it goest to the server and it uploads the new firmware.

A yellow or orange on the line keys means that the phone is not registered or not configured to work with your voip.. For me to help you more, you will need the following:
1. your network segment or network address (usually same as pc)
2. your voip provider.
