Question about Polaroid FLM-4201 42 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Lightening strike? We had a thunderstorm blow through here last night with a lot of lightening and my Polaroid Flatscreen was not on but was still plugged in. Today it doesn't work at all and seems to have no power to it (it is plugged in). Is it like the old CRT televisions and I may as well scrap it?

Dehumidifier not coming on at all

I hope it is only the fuse, but lightening can damage lots of things.
If the dehumidifier has an electronic component, like a thyristor or worse an integrated circuit, it is likely that part is damaged.
So if it has something like a wireless remote control there is damage.
It is the very fast change in electronic field caused by he lightening, what will induce a current in the electronic equipment causing the damage.
Als read ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) and EMP. Although the change in EMP is much faster than in lightning.

Twice now our router has failed to work after lightening strikes. The UPS means its lights still flash etc but the router itself does not work. Why does the UPS not protect it and what do we need to do...

A UPS is generally not designed or manufactured to protect against lightning strikes and / or power surges. Its purpose is ensure that whatever it is supplying power to does not turn off in the event of a power outage. You would be better served by getting a lightening protection strip from a hardware store that comes with insurance against damge from lightening and power surges. Alternately at substantially more cost, you can have an electrician or lightening protection contractor install whole-house lightening protection. Lightening protection strips with insurance included are relatively inexpensive.

How to change date and time for Polaroid i531

Press the menu button, scroll sideways (press lightening icon) to Setup (tools icon), then down (disp) to highlight date and time. Press Set or the lightening icon to select the date and time setting, then press disp or the opposite upper part of the rocker to change the numbers, and the lightening or flower to move between the various date and time settings. Press Set when you are through.

If you leave the battery out of the camera for 48 hours, you will be invited to set the date and time at the next switch on.

You can download a manual for a similar camera, the i1036, at polaroid.com, but there does not seem to be a manual for this specific camera there. Try THIS LINK

Lightening strike....no power.

There will be a fuse in the input to the power supply which most probably has blown because of the power surge. In almost all cases if you replace this it will blow again straight away as a lightening strike can cause a lot a damage to other components. You will probably find there will be some other parts that have gone short circuited & this would need to be investigated.

2007 dodge charger won't turn over

probably not, your car is not grounded, so there is no path to ground, thus lightning would not harm it. on the other hand, are you sure that your battery is new and not shorted and that you charged it with the positives and negatives the right way?
