Th only thing I can think of for that would be that you need to update your drivers. Go to your manufacturers website ad then to driver they should have all the ones you need ready to download. I don't know which specific ones though, you should download all to upgrade your computer

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

My ipod nano is freezing up and as a result my computer wont reconize it, wont play any music , and wont turn off.

Reset the thing by holding the center button and menu button at the same time until the apple logo appears.  Then re-sync with computer and look for ipod firmware updates.  If that don't work, then your ipod is fu.k.d up in which you should take it back to the Apple store and get the thing exchanged if your under your year warranty.

When i connected the ipod to my computer it connected to itunes but when it did it said it was updating something so i let it and my ipod just cut off and wont come back on and now my computer or itunes...

Sounds like it failed during a firmware update. Best bet is to make an appt at an Apple store to see if a Genius can give advice on a fix. Unfortunately, it's often cheaper to replace an iPod than fix it.
