The GTS 81X series a breif window between the GTS 8XX and the GTS 9 series. The 81X's were discontinued approximately 2005ish when the GPT/GTS 9 series came out, so it would be older than that. But i wouldnt go back as far as the 90's. Hope that helps
The dual 6 pin, I believe, is used so you can take power from the power supply and pass the connection back where it was taken from with a jumper. The card should need only one connection for power (But it IS needed) Power supply is vital for a computer. From your description I would not get less than 600watt. The power supply should be rated at least 125% of what you need worst case.
Man, trast me, the GTS 250 is way better than the hd 4870 one. on each section of the measures of performance factor, 250 beats the 4870. PhysX is the hardware utility for making the real world effects like the gravity , air factors, sea waves more realictic easily .
