The regulator for my Weber Silver has started to make a humming sound and seems to be releasing gas through what appears to be some sort of a safety value. Does this indicate a bad regulator? Easy to...

It's simply a vapor lock. To solve this problem do the following.

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.

2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).

4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.

If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it, turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling! Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have all new burner element, starter and thermometer,,,because I had a MAJOR fire from deteriorating fire unit Now I used grill to rotisserie a chicken, cleaned everything and when using it to grill...

When you cooked the chicken on the rotisserie, did you remove the cooking grates and place a disposable drip pan on the flame tamers below the chicken? This will prevent the grease from dripping down into the bottom of the grill when you use the rotisserie. The bottom of the unit needs to be kept clean so the grease will run to the drip pan and not get caught in the bottom of the unit. When you are done cooking, if you will close the lid and turn the grill on high for 10 to 15 minutes it will help to burn off any grease build up and prevent fires in the future.

Required wattage

It appears that the element for this device is 1500 watts. At 120 volts, that's 12.5 amps.

Hi, I have a year old 12395 BBQ. Last week when using it for the first time I noticed a flame creeping down the rubber pipe, it appeared to be leaking gas from the side grill brass valve. I turned the gas...

Kevin, While I can't offer a suggestion regarding the cause of the problem, I'd like to stress to danger of a defective gas unit. A small LPG tank can explode with enough force to blow a hole through a wall. I'd suggest having it examined by someone qualified to service gas fittings.

Digital readout says eaaf

The unit will not turn on if the internal temp sensor is below 40 degrees. Warm it with a hot rag or hair dryer, or bring the unit inside to warm up and it will turn on. Once the unit turns on for a minute or so, it will work fine outside.

This isn't the ideal solution, but it will work. I don't know why they don't want the smoker to turn on when it is cold out (unless they are worried that the quick change in temp will damage the heating coil).

The regulatory is making a hissing sound from the vent hole; can I adjust it to stop the sound or does the unit need to be replaced. The unit is about 10 years old

The gas could be leaking from the threads or the hose. Get a spray bottle with soap solution (Windex will work too) , turn on the gas (outside only) and then spray the hose or fittings in the suspect areas. If bubbles appear in an area other than the threads, you will probably need to replace the hose.

The usual source of leaks is where the hose is cripmed onto the fittings with the threads. If the threads only are leaking, the fitting can usually be removed, treated with a pipe thread sealing compound (available at most hardware or home improvement stores) and then re-assembled.

Whichever method is used, check for leaks again after the repair is complete.

Be careful
