When i turn it on it shows no operating system not found

boot record has been corrupted, or the hard drive is toast!....problem is that you have no cd/dvd rom so you cant insert a restore disk....if you wanted to test it yourself you would have to learn to boot from USB(flashdrive)....unless you have a external USB dvd that you can hook up to it to attemot to rebuild the boot record!

My screen is very dim

boot to the BIOS (F2 at boot) and ensure that the LCD brightness is set to 8 and then reboot, if LCD is still dim, then, check the Control point system manager display settings and see if the LCD is dimmed there.
If no change, run diags Power + D at boot to run the LCD BIST test , if the 4 colored screens are DIM during the test, then the LCD has failed and needs repplacement.

Backspace and spacebar are not working on dell laptop with OS-WINDOWS VISTA

Boot to the diagnostics (Fn+Power button) after the PSA diags you should be able to run the Dell 32 Bit diags, select custom, keyboard and see if the keys work there. If they do not, replace the keyboard, (They can be found on Ebay.com for around $20
If they work in diags, then you probably have the keyboard layout selected in Region settings of control panel

Computer will not load. I push the power button and it just runs.

Here are some things to check
  1. Power LED (It should be solid green) if flashing or solid Amber, then a power supply or motherboard problem.
  2. On the back, near the PS2 Ports, are 4 diagnostic LEDs marked ABCD. When running normally they are all green. During boot they flash on and off during each sequence of the POST, if they stop at t code AAGG for example is bad RAM
  3. If the Power and Diag LEDs are normal, then reseat the video card if an AGP card is installed or remove it an try the integrated video.

Dell laptop will not boot up?

Turn system on by pressing FN and the power button, this should start the system diagnostics. If hard drive diags pass, then new would be boot to the WIndows CD and Run Repair (Vista) or boot to recovery console (XP) once in recovery console, run the command CHKDSK /R
If running Vista repair, you may need to run the repair tool up to 5 times (Each pass makes a partial repair, it make take more than one to complete all issues)

If Diags fail, replace the hard drive.

I cannot get windows to load..goes to an error screen which asks me to choose repair(recommended) or start window normally...then repeats

Run diagnostics on the system (Hold Fn Key and press Power) and see if the HDD fails diags. If it does, then replace the HDD.

If the DIags PASS

Boot to your windows XP CD, press R at the 1st prompt to enter recovery console, the run the command CHKDSK /R then see if the system will boot normally.

If no go, then reboot to the WIndows CD and continue the install and try a repair install of WIndows. If that fails, then try a clean install of Windows (Delete the existing NTFS partition and create a new one)

If all those fail, replace the HDD (Passing DIAGS does not ensure the HDD is good, just the diags didn't detect the failure)

T6524 bios update needed

This isnt necessarily a bios problem mate , its just windows got corrupted during the power surge. Use the link below to do a repair install. Note , repair installs do not erase your personal files or setings or software !

Hi I have a inspiron 6400 - when it turn on only restart on boot logo.

first try and run diags Hold Fn Key while pressing power button, and see if you get a failure running diagnostics.;
If diags will not run, then remove HDD, and boot to the resource CD and see if diags will run there.
If diags pass, try booting to the XP CD, press R at the 1st prompt to enter Recovery console, and run CHKDSK /P then reboot and see if you can get to the OS.
If you can't get to recovery console or if you get a diagnostic failure on the Hard Drive, then you will need to replace the hard drive (around $100)
