SOURCE: Why do I get Error 99 in my Canon EOS 350 D?

1. Turn off the camera.
2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card.
3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes.
4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.
Does the “ERR 99′ message appear? If it does, then the camera should be
serviced. If it does not, then please proceed to the next set of steps:
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Insert the CF card.
3. Turn on the camera.
4. Format the CF card in the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.
Does the “ERR 99′ message appear? If so, then the CF card is the most
likely source of the issue. Try using a different card.
If the message does not appear, please complete the following steps:
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Clean the lens contacts by gently rubbing them with a pencil eraser
or soft cloth. Be careful that you do not let any debris fall into the
camera body.
3. Reattach your lens.
4. Turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.
If the “ERR 99′ message only appears when one particular lens is
attached, then that lens should be examined by a service technician.
If you see the “ERR 99′ with a different Canon lens attached, then the
camera should be serviced.

SOURCE: nikon d80 will not take pics has err flashing in

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful.

Regards
Andrea

If you have not used the camera in a long time try to reset it. If it was installed on your computer try to reinstall it. Sometimes that will work . I hope this helped a little.

These cameras use both SD and XD cards. The SD cards are the cause of the draining. Switch to an XD card or remove your SD card while not in use and your batteries will not drain. :)

Z612 will not format an SD card... 1GB??? Also battery life is very short... have used Kodak battery and a LENMAR DLK8000. And more... lens does not extend when camera turned on! Best Buy has had the...

Your camera has been designed to work with SD cards up to 1GB but in my experience there are often compatibility issues with different brands of SD cards especially when they're right on the limit of what the camera can handle.

You've said what batteries you've tried, but they will not affect how your camera behaves when trying to format an SD card.

I'd recommend first trying to reformat the card in an external reader (you may have to try reformatting in FAT 16 and then in FAT32 to see if it makes a difference: alternatively contact Kodak to ask which one to use as they don't say which in the published technical specs for your model). If this doesn't work then my next suggestion is to try a previously unused (i.e new) example of another brand of SD card; as they're so cheap you may want to do that anyway. You're safest to assume that a Kodak branded card will work, and SanDisk are also very widely compatible on "problem" devices. If either of these cards do not work then you'll find that the manufacturers are both very supportive in trying to resolve your issue, although ultimately you may discover that you actually have a faulty camera.

Kodak Easy Share M763 Won't turn on!!

Remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the camera with a soft cloth (a heavy buildup on the contacts may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that the cleaning leaves in the camera, and then reinstall the batteries. This clears most power-on problems, but if yours persists, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

DXG 506V Will not turn on

I had the same problem ...I bought a new 2 GB SD card put it in the camera and it worked fine.

It may have had something to do with formatting ..I tried to format the other card wiyh my computer when the video camera would stay on.
I tried to reset the camera that didn't work either.
The new SD Card did work.

Try a smaller memory card size . I was trying to install a 4gb card and the guy at Kmart told me to try a 1gb card and that fixed the locked card error . No where in the instruction book did it address this problem.
