Moen Universal Fill Valve Model M5350 problems

Some kind of crud may have goten into the fill line during installation and is blocking shutoff. The new fill valve could be defective. Something may be preventing the float from stopping the flow. The flapper may be allowing slight leakage, preventing the fill valve from shutting off and staying off. The "overflow tube" actually is the fill tube; the tank fills from the bottom up.

Moen Monticello 4-inch centerset bath faucets can be repair easily with only a screwdriver and adjustable wrench. Turn the water off to the both sides of the faucets under the sink. Open both the hot and cold-water valves to alleviate any remaining pressure. Remove the handles by grasping the base of the handle and turning it counterclockwise.( This works for both lever and cross handles). Loosen the Moen faucet cartridge bonnet nut with an adjustable wrench by turning it counterclockwise to the left. Pull the stem from the faucet by hand and replace. Reinstall the bonnet nuts and handles. Turn the water back on and test the faucet for leaks. The Moen Monticello faucet comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Try calling Moen to get your replacement parts free.

Pull the trim off of the valve and you will see a 1 inch diameter flat screw, unscrew that and clean it out and try it again. If rinsing it doesn't work you may need to replace it. It is called a balancing caulk.

Need to replace a moen tub-shower valve without tearing down a wall. Can you help? Where can I get the valve?

If you remove the handle and the fasia plate you'll see the valve in the center (make sure to turn off the supply valves first. These are located at 3:00 and 9:00 beside the valve. Then the whole assembly unscrews from the center with a large adjustable wrench or a pair of channelock pliers.
