Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Inactive shredder. Worked fine for about 2 months. Then, when you pushed the "on" button, the shredder would come on for a brief second and then turn back off. Now, it won't come on at all. It is not jammed. There is no problem with the outlet or the cord. All pieces fit correctly. Any ideas?

Common fix is ti check and clean top and bottom sensors with cotton swab and alcohol. Possible that there is a build up of shreds inside the cutter shroud. You have to remove the top to clean it.

My office max OM01287 Shredder has no power to it is there a rest button it worked just fine the last time I used it and now there's no power?

Double check the safety that stops the shredder when it is full sometimes that switch gets jammed with cut paper. Also make sure the top of the shredder is level and properly seated back on the base unit. The shredder feed area may also need to be cleared there may be a staple or just paper jammed into this area as well, make sure the unit is unplugged before trying to inspect and clear and part of the shredder

I have a Craftsman FS5500 48" lawn mower. The PTO makes a noise (squeak) for a second when I pull up on the red blade engage knob. The blades do not engage. PTO does not turn. When I push the red...

The problem is probably in the button that you pull and push to engaged and disengage the PTO... If you wiggle the button or try to pull it slowly, you may find a spot where it will work. But the button has gone bad and will need to be replaced.
If you are comfortable with wiring, you could jumper the wires and getting it working, but it would be a very temporary and possibly dangerous fix...

My paper shredder wont turn off

Shredders have sensors that tell it to turn on. Usually the there is a spring loaded button/sensor in the middle of the slot that you feed the paper in. Once the sensor button is pushed down, it thinks a piece of paper is being fed in and begins to turn the blades.

If your shredder won't stop running, I think the sensor button is stuck in the down position.

1) try pushing the reverse button for a while to see if it clears the problem.

2) if not, then unplug the shredder. Find the button/sensor near the middle of the shredder slot and with a tweezer, try removing any clogged scraps of paper near the sensor button to get it to pop up fully.

3) I've never seen a shredder with more than one sensor in the middle but if yours has more, make sure they are all in the popped up position when there is no paper in the shredder.

4) Plug the shredder back into the AC outlet and try it again. Good luck

My Fellowes p600c-2 shredder will only run in reverse. I've blown compressed air on the switch and pushed on it with a toothpick but neither method worked. I removed 6 screws and the cover of the on/off...

Never mind providing help, I fixed it myself. There is a seventh screw hidden under one of the adhesive labels. I removed that screw and was able to disassemble the shredder. The plastic trigger mechanism that starts the shredder when paper is put in was stuck. I freed the trigger mechanism and reassembled the shredder. Now it works fine.

Shredder Errors before Paper Touches Blades

When the paper shreds it pulls both the blades inward. Reverse spins them outward.

There must be something too large between the blades because it can be pushed up just not pulled down.

Has a staple or paperclip been inserted into the machine?

Try one of these two things:

When you're vacuuming the machine, hold the reverse button in and see if that helps.

Unplug it, take out all loose pieces like the bag liner, tape the door closed, get another individual to help you flip it upsidedown and GENTLY tap the machine to break free any obstructions.

Hopefully one of these solutions will work for you.

Shredder won't turn on

On the right side of the waste basket(as you face it) is a tab that pushes a button on the shredder when it is in place. The tab is not making contact with the button. Push the side of the basket where the tab is when you have paper to shred in it. If it begins to shred, you may have to bend the basket inward so that the tab makes contact. I have had this problem.

you can check that transformer , with a multimeter, see if you have the right voltage.
