Question about Maxtor Basics Personal Storage 3200 Hard Drive
I bought a Maxtor Basics 320 GB external harddrive from a small electronics resale shop and when I plug it into my computer it says that it cant be recognized. I have tested it in all my USB ports and it always says the same, but when it was sold to me, they showed me on their computer that it could be opened and both my computer and theirs had windows xp
There's a good chance the shop you bought the drive from didn't have SP3 installed. For some reason, SP3 has an issue with USB peripheral devices. Windows has created a patch to rectify the problem. Click on the link below and install the "Fixit" patch to enable your PC to recognize your HD. Best of luck.
