Question about Washing Machines
I have an older rca g-157 washer--from time to time the hot water cuts out almost completely, accompanied by a whining sound as the water is restricted----the cold is fine--the hot will cut out either on the hot or the warm setting---sometimes if I wait with the machine off, the hot will return when I try again---the control part is an Eaton N-51---I think that is the source of the problem---is it likely that I am right, and if this exact part is no longer available, are there interchangeable substitutes? thank you very much

SOURCE: Cold water doesn't shut off
time to replace your water (mixing) valve. the diaphram tht regulates the water is wornand will no longer close causing the water to continually come in

SOURCE: Washer fills only with hot water
Disconnect cold water hose from machine. Inspect the filter screen on the cold water connection. DO NOT REMOVE SCREEN. If full of debris, use a spray bottle with a hard spray to remove debris. If unable to remove or cold is still slow, replace valve.

Sounds like the cold water knob or switch is not switching and may be faulty.
I have a problem with my washer
For some reason when I try to start the washer and I have it set to cold it does not work if I put it to hot then its fine
The cold water does work though because if I change the washer to a later cycle cold water comes out just fine.
So it almost seems like its the timer knob

hey there sounds like your hot falve is faulty, if it is faulty they tend to either switch off and not open to let water in, or not open at all, get a service tech to look at you hot valve.
