I have a pump at cabin it pumps water but won t build up pressure and shut off got this pump 7 years first problem

Normally there is a pressure TANK, used in conjunction with a Booster pump. Do you have one on this system? That's where the pressure is stored. If no pressure, the bladder is either failing or has failed.

Sounds like a well pump with a leaky foot valve. I beleive you are correct in that it air lockes then when you shut it off the water flows back eliminiting the air lock.

If in the past your system can build-up pressure up to 40 psi even if the supply valve is open and water is being used in your house, then your pump impeller maybe already worn out that's why its pumping capacity was reduced.

Shurflo pump just installed will not stop running

you should check the foot valve that would be at the bottom of the well pipe the fasted way to check it is shut off the pump and see if the system pressure drops down

Have an Onga JJ400 jet water pump several years old, pump is working but delivering poor water flow

Is the pump building pressure and shutting off? If the pump keeps running but not building pressure than there is most likely a problem with the well (low volume). Also check for a water logged bladder tank.

My jet pump has a 20 - 40 pressure switch but won't give any more than 30 psi. Whats wrong?

There are several causes for this to occur.
1. If it is a 20-40 switch right out of the box it may not be set correctly. I have had this happen. If it builds to 30psi and shuts right off without straining to build to 40psi adjust the Cut-Out pressure up to 40psi. There are two different adjustments on a well switch. One for Cut In / Cut Out psi and one for Cut Out psi.
2. Lack of head pressure being built by the pump can be the cause. This can be attributed to the wrong Jetting in the pump. IE: A shallow well jet/venturi on a deep well.
3. The pump may have a bad impeller, but the pump will generally really strain to build pressure and a bad impeller will be loud, like grinding at times.
4. Double check the pre-set pressure in bladder tank also.

Fuel Pump problems. Diagnostics shows a pressure loss.

pressure loss is either a bad fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail where the injectors are, or a bad check valve in the fuel pump in the tank. usually the latter.

A quick test is to turn the key to on and measure pressure. Should be 40 psi. Pump will hum for 5 seconds and shut off if engine is not running. (Safety step).

Pressure should drop very little for 5 minutes.
You can cycle the key off for 15 seconds or until you hear the relay click off. Then turn key back on to start pump for 5 seconds again to build pressure. This will help get it started for the day as it builds pressure that bled down over night.

Please rate, thanks.

My water pump kicks on every 30 min or so even if there is no water used

When a pump goes on and off there is a water leak somewhere.
There should be a gauge. Let the pump build up pressure and watch the gauge.
The pressure will probably be dropping. This means that water is going somewhere. The leak could be anywhere that you use water, sprinklers, sinks, hose lines. If there is a valve above or near the pump, shut that valve and see if the pressure stops dropping. If the pressure stays up and the pump stops cycling on and off, the leak in in the pressure piping somewhere, you must locate it and repair it.
If the pressure continues to drop even with the discharge valve shut, the water must be leaking back into the well. There is a check valve somewhere on your line between the well and the pump. If this check valve is leaking, pressure will drop and the pump will come on to restore it.

If it is possible to shut off the discharge of the pump, shut that valve and watch the pressure gauge to see if it is dropping.

We have a Gould's domestic water pump and the limit switch was replaced and it still runs constantly and won't shut off. Any ideas??????

Yeah, if it won't shut off the pressure tank is not getting pressure to it or leaking out, first the cheapest ideas to try would be have someone turn water on when you are looking at the pressure gage, what psi is it, you want atleast 60, then, havet them turn off water, keep watching the gage for a minute see what it does if pump still runs its not building pressure so, is this a new install, or has it just started happening, if its new did you prime the pump? if you did the pressure gage may need replacing this is cheap, if that doesn't fix the problem, then you need to check your pressure tank the bladder may be worn out, so if I was you, I would also check for air leaks make sure all fittings are tight, you can take your hand and place on pump when running, turn water on to do this, or you may be able to hear air leaking, definate sign that your not building pressure so pump cant work with pressure tank, now if your bladder is still good once airleaks are fixed the bladder will build the pressure it needs then your done.
