This is very location dependant. Different parts of the country have different needs. I suggest that you contact 3-4 companies and have them submit proposals. They should take a sample of your water, analize it, and then make a reccomendation based on your needs.

SOURCE: Rusty colored water from hot water- is a gas

Hello,The "rust" is from the water itself. If the supply has a high iron content the process of heating it up seperates the iron out and over time it will form deposits on the bottom of the hot water tank.Locate the tank drain and connect a hose and open it up and let it run "flush" out the tank.Do this every month to keep it from building back up.It should be mentioned that the drain valve can be plastic and or very hard to close once it has been opened. They sell a brass drain end cap or the drain can be replaced with a new (long stem)drain.

SOURCE: GE Heavy Duty Household Filtration System

It sounds like there is quite a bit of sediment in the water. The filter you are using may be a very fine micron 5-10. Try using a 30-50 micron filter.

Ge smartwater wholehouse waterfilter main housing failed flooded house

Why did it fail? How did it fail? Was it the plumbing that failed? Replace it with a Pentair filter housing, 10" housing, 20" housing or Big Blue housing and make sure it is plumbed in properly. It is very unusual for a filter housing to fail unless it freezes up.

My smart water softner tank is filling up with water and will not drain

The eductor assembly is plugged. This is where the brine is drawn in to regenerate the system. It is the space capsule looking thing on the left side of valve. The owners manual has directions to repair this. You may find your manual here.

This is proabably not the case but I have seen it happen, Have you checked the outlet side of the filter to make sure it was drilled when it was made. Thank you

Canisters on my ge smart water filtration system gxsv10c model are stuck tight. How do i get them open

Make sure the water is turned off to system. Open the faucet to system to drain any water and keep the faucet turned on to keep pressure off filter housings.
1.Use the wrench to take housings off.
2. If they still won't budge take a small 2x4 block of wood and hammer, set the block of wood on the RIB for the housing and tap with hammer.
3. Change the o-rings in both housings, lubricate with silicone lube and lubricate the threads on housings with silicone also.
3. Rinse housings with small amount of bleach and clean thoroughly.
4. Replace filters and housings.
5. IMPORTANT: Only tighten housings by hand. NEVER tighten housings with wrench.

I was changing my filter in the ge filtration system, and it says to turn off the water and press the red button. Then it says to unscrew the filter take the old one out and clean the filtrstion system...

The red button is a pressure relieve valve. If the system is leaking from the valve, try pushing the valve up from the underside of the cap where the valve is located. If this does not work the housing needs to be replaced. You do not have to replace this with a name brand like GE. All you need to do is make sure the housing that you are purchasing is the same size.
