Have 6A00 error code. Have tried all suggestions from first expert, i.e., Stop/Reset ON/OFF pushed appropriately; have unplugged the equipment; have taken out cartridges (but received no message to put them back in). Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you.

I did everything you suggested. I was able to move the plastic assembly forwards and backwards, and the sponge is in place.

It doen't seem as though the print head is engaging. It doesn't move. There are no solid red lights on the cartridges.

    Any other suggestions. Thank you.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam even though the paper is not actually jammed.so the printer will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon printer tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.
The purge unit is a white plastic assembly (on the right side of the printer where the print head homes) that is spring loaded on rides on a rail.move it back and forth (actually forward and back) about 5 times manually .till it moves freely completely.this will solve the problem in 99% cases. if it still has problem after that then:The problem is inside the printer. Turn off the printer and open the replacement ink compartment- move the inks holder far to the left- use a torch to check where the inks holder home and you'll see that there is a sponge a tiny rectangular shape come loose -use the twiter and put back in place (holder). the above procedure will definately solve your problem.

it is also possible that the rod on which the carriage moves is not allowing the carriage to move frelly or sometimes the cartridge holder carriage is itself jammed up .in that case you will need to get your printer serviced.if nothing helps then we can blame the main board.if the main board is faulty. it wont force the command to crarriage to move.in that case u will need to contact canon dealer to replace the main logic board.

Hi

this is a PIXMA MP830? yes?

to clear memory, reset it.

  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.

To clear error messages displayed on the LCD or if the printer is not functioning as expected, it may be necessary to simultaneously press Stop/Reset and ON/OFF buttons.
  1. With the printer powered on, press and hold down the <Stop/Reset> button then press the ON/OFF button.

  2. Once the printer is powered off, hold down <Stop/Reset> and then press <ON/OFF>.

Check / clean and clear a paper jam:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.
You may have to repeat the above steps if the error comes back.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

And finaly check that the lock switch is unlocked.

If you have done everything above, take out the print cartridges, let it sit for a moment without the cartridges and let it "ask for the cartridges back" or just turn it off and on again. Reinsert the cartridges and check if the issue is solved.

If the problem is not solved the unit will need service from canon.

On printer screen it is showing Error 6A00 and error code. Whats does this mean and how can I fix it

In my IP 3000 during a print suddenly on the 3rd page, a big "crunch" sound. Paper was jammed - error 5100 or smthg, and managed to remove the paper... but then error 6A00 came up. I found this post and was saved. Manually moved the print head left and right, turned the printer on/off. Still the same error. Then I noticed a piece of torn paper lodged inside. Removed that, got inky fingers, and finally got printer in working condition.
Try to clean any foreign object inside.May be it can help you.

Error code 6A00

6A00 error on a Canon IP4200 is an AP Postion Error. This means one of three things. A problem with the sheet feeder, Logic board or the Purge Unit. Sadly these part are either working or not working and are difficult to repair. You could try resetting the EEPROM on the unit by entering service mode. A service manual will show you how to do that:

If that helps please rate my solution

6A00 error

The error seems to indicate a failed sheet feed, check the paper path to see for any stuck bits of paper, however I have heard that this can also be caused by a flaky sensor in the paper path.....

apparently the best way to deal with this is to turn it upside down and give it a shake.

hope this helps

My canon MP600 PRINTER

There's a couple things you can try:

First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.

Double check that your ink tanks are seated right too

If you STILL have the error code, try these two types of resets:

To clear the memory:
  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
To do a stop/reset:

To clear error messages displayed on the LCD or if the printer is not functioning as expected, it may be necessary to simultaneously press Stop/Reset and ON/OFF buttons.
  1. With the printer powered on, PRESS AND HOLD DOWN the <Stop/Reset> button then press the ON/OFF button.

  2. Once the printer is powered off, hold down <Stop/Reset> and then press <ON/OFF>.
If none of the above clears it up, you may have to have the machine serviced.. check to see if you are still under warranty.

Good Luck!

HI Guys 6A00 error usually cant't be fixed according to the service centre, I was lucky and actually bought an extended warranty, the service centre said that the MP530 are a good printer and worth fixing as they don't see many at all compared to other models and other brands. There was a broken piece of hardware that something to do with the print carriage. cheers vailey
