Cold water runs slow

Turn the cold water off and remove the hose at the machine. You will find a screen located there and you will need to clean it out.

Where is the filter located and how often do you have to clean it?

Most washers have screen filters where the hot and cold water lines connect. The condition of your water supply would indicate how often you clean these screens. If you notice a decrease in water flow into the tub you should clean the screens.

Shut off the hot and cold water supply lines.
Drain the pressure from the lines by turning the timer dial through the fill cycle in both hot and cold water modes.
Remove the hot and cold water lines from the back of the washer.
Look for a screen inside the hose coupling or the washer inlet.
Remove screen and clean using a wire brush. If screen is damaged get a replacement at a hardware, or home improvement store.

I have a Kenmore top load washer. When the selection is on cold only, warm and cold, or hot and cold the water barely run into the washer's bowl along with a squickey noise. But once selection of water is...

Hi, W/D here.
You probably have mineral deposits in your cold water supply line, or possibly a bad solenoid.
To check the water line, shut off the cold water line at the wall faucet. Disconnect the water hose from the faucet. Be careful as there will be some water pressure relieved when you do this. Once the hose is loose, look into the end of the hose. You should see a screen behind a hose washer. If there is debris on the screen, remove the washer and then the screen and clean it. If the screen is not located there (sometimes they get reversed), you'll need to pull the other end of the hose off of the washer and check that end in the same way.
Try this first, and if this doesn't fix you up, please repost, and we'll go through the solenoid removal process.
Best regards, --W/D--

Why will only hot water go into machine?

It can be one of two problems. Either the solenoid valve is bad on the cold side or the screen is plugged on the cold side. Take the cold water hose off and check the screen that is located right inside off where you connect the hose to the washer. Open the valev on the hose while you have it off and make sure that water flows from the hose so you know you are getting water to the washer. After cleaning the screen reconnest the hose. If it still does not work then your valve is bad. Replace that.

Water on rinse cycle comes in very slow, >1 hr

The rinse cycle is cold water only. Your filter screen on the cold side is stopped up with sediment. Turn off the water. Remove the cold supply hose from the rear of the washer. The screen is located inside the water fill valve. Take a straightened paper clip and fish the screen out. Clean it and replace it. Do not run the machine without the screen it will ruin the valve. Some hoses also have screens. Check your hoses too.

Cold water dribbles in rinse cycle, hot and warm water fine

If you check the warm water flow you'll likely find it is HOT...and not warm. Check the faucet end of hose to see if screen is clogged. Should be screened washer with the dome portion of the screen facing out at you. Remove it and clean with brush to remove grit or scale from screen. If you find nothing there you need to replace the water fill valve located at the other end of the hoses. Good Luck

Hot water just trickles in both of my Kenmore top loader washers

Try reversing hot for cold hoses and see what happens. That will test your valves, hot water pressure, etc. As far as I know, the valve screens are right where the hoses hook up.

No water on cold wash/cold rinse setting

Tip1. Make sure your cold water turnoff is turned on all the way off before you check water screen. It could be clogged with sediment located inside threaded cold water hose connection. If clogged scrape clean or replace screen.Reconnect cold water hose and turn cold water supply all the way on. Tip2. Electric water solenoid could be defective or simply have a loose wire on the plug of the solenoid or loose plug / wire on mode switch.

Slow cold water

1.) turn off water valve that supplies cold water to washer.
2.) unscrew the cold water hose-type connector immediately next to the set of 2 water connections in back of unit.
3.) look into the hose you just removed or into the water connector on machine. you will find a metal screen (like a window screen) that is cone-shaped...if none found then remove hose connection at other end of same hose...remove it and then clean it thoroughly and then re-assemble all.
