On the bottom there is a spring loaded latch that, when pressed, will allow you to slide the battery out. There may or not also be a locking tab as well (It will have a picture of a lock, opened and closed)

How much and where can I get a battery for a compaq nc6000 in San francisco

You will get the best price for a new battery from an online store, the upside to this is that it doesn't really matter where you live either. A quick search of your battery came to an average price of around $55. Here is a list of sellers for you to look at and choose from.

Hi,My HP Compaq nc6000 just developed a problem of not coming on. I have checked the battery and its okay. I have blown its internal parts and it remained off. It only indicates the orange light for some...

try taking the battery out completely and see if the laptop runs of the main power from the outlet, if so then the battery may have a bad cell in it and would need to be replaced.

Primary Batteries
6-cell Lithium-Ion (4.4Ah) – standard
8-cell Lithium-Ion (4.4Ah) – optional

Power SupplyExternal 65 watt AC adapter

from looks of it the battery has gone bad

I would like to find the location of my CMOS battery on my laptop HP Compaq nc6000 to replace the battery.

Try taking off the Keyboard, it is probably under there. There might be some screws on the bottom or snaps on the top.

Here's how to do it. Read this forum link:

There's a few things you need to do besides removing the CMOS battery. Get a couple of small screwdrivers out, you are going to need them.

Need directions for installing compaq nc6000

I don't understand your question here?. If you are trying to install a laptop battery, then you probably just have to turn the laptop over and insert the battery in the compartment on your laptop in which the battery is supposed to go. I hope this helps you out.
