Question about Philips 42PFL5332D 42 in. LCD Television
We bought this TV 'as is' about 9 months back and its worked wonderfully. Of late tho, sometimes when we turn it on, the ambient light and sound will come on but no picture. Turn the tv off and on once more and voila! we have picture too again. Now it won't show a picture no matter what we do.
We have repaired electronic devices and computers/laptops plenty in the past but cannot find any kind of service manual or schematics for this particular tv anywhere.
Can anyone help us with this or let us know which part we'd need to order so we can replace the faulty part?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Go buy a CRT television for $200 and chunk that HD TV. All of them are made in China with the same poor quality. Why seemingly smart Americans would pay good money for such junk is beyond me. The LCDs are a cash cow for the monitor and TV industry as they are well aware the inverter boards will fail within 3 years time. The old CRT tvs will work for the next 15 - 20 years without failure. Get you a good ole 36 in sony black stripe tube and kiss the LCD crowd good by.

Unfortunately, even though it has Component connectors, it is not an HD TV. As far as the digital conversion goes, you would need either a digital cable or satellite box, or a digital converter box. It does not have a built-in digital tuner.

I have a Phillips 42FD9954/17S and every time I try to turn it on I also get the power red light blinking and sometimes it will try to turn on with a bunch of clicking noises and it will be green for a while then turn red. What I do and its very weird but works, put a blow dryer on hot and blow it under the tv on the side of the power button for about 10 minutes and it will turn on. I took it apart and there is a heat sink that if i put the blow dryer directly onto it on heat it turns on in less than a minute. Can someone tell me how I can fix this heat sink? I cant take it off. I want to put some thermal compound to see if that works. Give it a try I promise it will work. The Red Light has to be on put the heat on it and then press the power button, if you hear it clicking and green then back to red you are almost there. Keep putting heat on it and it will turn on.
