Don't use refill kits, they are no good in quality printers. Also the cartridges in the newer models have a chip in them that knows when the cartridge is empty. When it becomes empty, the chip has to be reset, and this is what those mall cartridge fillers do.

E, 1, 3 The ink may have run out. The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled since the ink level cannot be correctly detected. If you want to continue printing without this function, press the machine's Stop (Reset) button for at least 5 seconds. Canon recommends to use new genuine Canon cartridges in order to obtain optimum qualities. Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble caused by continuation of printing under the ink out condition. Checking the Ink Status Checking the Ink Status with the Ink Lamps on the Operation Panel The ink level detector is mounted on the machine to detect the remaining ink level. The machine considers as ink is full when a new FINE cartridge is installed, and then starts to detect a remaining ink level. If you install a used FINE cartridge, the indicated ink level of it may not be correct. In such case, refer to the ink level information only as a guide. When remaining ink cautions or errors occur, the error code will be displayed on the LED (Light Emitting Diode) to inform you of the error. Check the error code and take appropriate action. -> [ An Error Code Is Displayed on the LED ] See[Checking the Ink Status ]

Lexmark X83 says 'Cartridge short press power key'. I've pressed buttons, checked cartridge, turned off and restarted. What next?

hi

have you replaced the ink cartridge prior to getting that error message? if so, you could have probably knocked out the encoder strip and need to relocate it. you can also try to use a water-moistened cotton swabs to gently clean the encoder strip.

i was not able to get a picture for lexmark but i hope this'll give you the idea on where to locate the encoder strip.

Error 306 can't get printer to work with my mac. It was working just fine until I changed the cartridges and now it gives me an error 306

Error 306 is a communication error and should have nothing to do with the cartridge. Check to make sure the printer is plugged in and restart your computer, and try again.

ERROR CODE 3813

After I took out PrintHead and tried to clean it up again, I put it back in with Ink Cartridges and got error code 3813 - also couldn't fix it. Removed Ink Cartridges, turned printer off. Turn back on and it will forget about error code 3813 and will tell you to install Ink cartridges. Do that and error code 3813 is gone and ready to print.

A note: I did not find anything telling me I have to change printhead but my problem with black ink printing still exists so I will get new printhead and see if that problem gets fixed.

Error message 50c on printer

I had the same error message 50c and "color Ink low". I knew that I still had Black Ink, and that is what I just needed for the moment, so I removed the color Ink cartridge and it started working. You'll get a message 'print cartridge missing' but just press continue.
Hope this helps,
