Nike fuelband shows plug with lightning bolts

Without knowing the model number of your player it is difficult to answer your question.

Players which can be recharged typically do so through the USB port. When plugged into a charger or computer, this type device should have a LED illuminate or lightning bolt appear on the display to show it is charging.

If nothing happens when it is plugged in to a charger or computer, then it may only operate on AA or AAA batteries and should display something when it's time to change them.

The Fuel Band sometimes can have issues with the dots. My recommendation is to restart the device or check in with Nike to see what's up.

Fuelband isn't made for swimming so don't use it when it is submerged in water

The Nike+ products don't allow for manual entry of activities. I have a friend who has taken to wearing the fuelband around their ankle to get the points for biking, he's found its the only way to get an accurate read since your hands don't move while biking.

Ok, ready for this, here is an ACTUAL solution... As per Nike's support page. Hope this helps.

When your FuelBand displays a plug icon with two animated lines beside it (above), there are a few simple troubleshooting steps we suggest you take.

1. Plug your FuelBand in to your computer's USB port and allow Nike+ Connect to launch.
   
   • If Nike+ Connect indicates that you have NikeFuel to upload, please follow the steps to upload your activity. No further action is needed.
   • If Nike+ Connect indicates that you do not have NikeFuel to upload, please disconnect your FuelBand from your USB port and proceed to the next step.
     
2. Press the button on your FuelBand.
   
   • If the normal information appears on your FuelBand (FUEL, TIME, CALS, STEPS), no further action is needed.
   • If the same plug icon with two animated lines appears, please give us a call right away, as there may be a problem with your device's accelerometer.

nike fuel band, a failure

This same thing just happened to me. I just reset the band.
Here are the instruction from the Nike help site:
Resetting Nike+ FuelBand to factory settingsIf you want to reset all the FuelBand settings back to the original factory defaults, connect your Nike+ FuelBand to your computer to open Nike+ Connect and select Factory Reset from the Settings window (see image below).

This will clear all user settings and any unsynced activity from your FuelBand. However, the activity you've already uploaded to nikeplus.com will remain intact and attached to your Nike+ profile.

Most FuelBand users shouldn't ever need to take this step. It's useful for advanced troubleshooting. It's also useful for clearing your user settings if you want to transfer your FuelBand to another user or associate it with a different Nike+ account going forward.

It could be the charger, the phone's power interface, or your battery. When you plug the phone in to charge it, does it recognize the charger and show the lightning bolt symbol for charging?

If you use your computer's USB port to charge it instead of the wall charger, does it act any differently?

Do you have the flash turned off? Does the screen show a lightning bolt with a line through it? If so, press the button with the lightning bolt and watch the screen for a lightning bolt and an "a".
