Ok this is actually a common problem, but it can be caused by many things. First lets see what it might be:
1) Dirty on/off switch contacts
2) Control processor responding to interference
3) On/Off switch partially depressed in switch housing
4) Capacitor connect to control bus not working properly
5) Control Circuitry damaged by electrostatic or electromagnetic pulses
Now these are the logical reasons, any other and you need more help then I can offer.
I would not suggest that you do any work on this TV but rather get a qualified TV technician to check the TV and give you an estimate on how much it will cost to repair your TV. It should not cost much.
I hope this helps

Disconnect power and then re-apply. If the disc doesn't come out, then the drive either has a bad drive belt or the eject motor is bad - it'll need to be taken apart to fix.

If you have tried more than one commercial DVD and are getting the same results then the problem is the player has failed. Actually what happens is the heads go out of alignment and it doesn't have the accuracy to read the tracks any more. This is a typical failure of dvd players in desktop and laptop computers and standalone players. While the heads can be aligned it isn;t worth doing. It was when a dvd or cd player was $1500 but not now.
Unfortunately the only cost effective fixes are replacing the dvd drive or replacing the entire unit. The replacement dvd would cost more than a new replacement tv/dvd combo. So you can buy a new tv or buy an external player ($40ish).
