Question about Dryers
How do I go about changing the natural gas orifice from an Sears Kenmore elite he4 dryer to an LP gas orifice? And, do I need a part?

MOST KITS HAVE AN INSTRUCTION SHEET WITH THEM.
USUALLY, THE ONLY THING YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IS REPLACE THE VENT CAP ON THE REGULATOR WITH A BLOCKING PIN AND REPLACE THE ORPHICE ON THE VALVE. BE SURE YOU CHECK FOR GAS LEAKS AFTER REASSEMBLY. BE CAREFUL NOT TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE IGNITOR. IT IS ON THE END OF THE BURNER.
IT DOES NOT BEND AT ALL. IF YOU PUT TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON IT, IT WILL BREAK.

You can get the conversion kit. It will tell you how to convert the dryer. I recommend that you get a technician to do it though.
This gas dryer is equipped with a Valve & Burner Assembly
for use only with natural gas. Using conversion kit
WE25X0217, your local service organization can convert
this dryer for use with propane (LP) gas. ALL CONVERSIONS
MUST BE MADE BY PROPERLY TRAINED
AND QUALIFIED PERSONNEL AND IN ACCORDANCE
WITH LOCAL CODES AND ORDINANCE

The ignitor may be bad or the thermal fuse may be failed.

Testimonial: "I replaced both works great thanks for the conformation."
More and more, you have to change the gas valve AND the orifice due to the liability issue of changing only the orifice and not doing a complete conversion. If, and this might be a big if, a conversion kit is available, you will need the model # of your dryer to order it. The kit will come with a spring and a tension nut for the gas valve and the orifice you need. Instructions will come with the kit. Follow them to the letter. An improperly installed conversion kit, or just changing the orifice, can be very dangerous. LP operates at a higher pressure than the natural gas the dryer was built to use, and an improper conversion presents a significant fire hazard.
