SOURCE: my dell optiplex 360 model pc have built in

The optiplex 360 does come with internal speakers(it's in the spec sheet as optional), we bought them for our entire IT department and they worked fine on XP and vista, but when we put 7 on them, we can't get the internal speaker to work.

Kristilyn,
You will need to download and reinstall the sound drivers into the system or use the Dell Drivers disk that was shipped with your computer to install. You can download the driver from the link below.

Sound not play

Hi,
if you're not getting any sound from your optiplex it means either your sound card is bad or the driver is missing or corrupted. You should change the sound card if the first is the case or update the driver if the later is the case. I strongly believe that it's the driver, do that first and if it doesn't work, change the sound card.
Hope this helps

I have no sound on my dell optiplex gx280. it tells me soundcard has been uninstalled/removed, or is being used by another programme.the latter is not the case.any suggestions.i only bought it 2nd hand,...

My first thought is to check if the card has become lose from the slot. To check that you will need to open the case safely (make sure to wear an anti-static wrist strap or ground yourself any time you move). Unplug your computer from all of the external devices and power as well.

These directions assume your card is not screwed into the back of the case (in which case either the slot is not getting enough power or the card is bad).

Pull the sound card out and place it in the slot (or, preferably, another open slot of the same type). Push down evenly on the entire card (sometimes you'll need to press on the front and then the back of the card until it is fully seated).

Close the case and plug in your external devices (at least power, mouse, keyboard and speakers) and test if the device is found.

I'm also assuming you have a sound card and not on-board audio. If at some time a sound card was added and the on-board audio was disabled, you may be able to re-enable the on-board audio after removing the sound card drivers. If the reseating of the card doesn't work, I'd try a new sound card.

I hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me how to uninstall ethernet card in dell optiplex 320? I also need to know where to download and install the ethernet card. I can't go to ipconfig and see my ip address. The tech sup...

The ethernet card on the Dell Optiplex 320 is integrated into the motherboard and can not be physically removed. However, a new ethernet card could still be installed into one of the available PCI slots and can be purchased at just about any computer parts retailer.

Before you jump to replacing the card I would recommend trying a few things yourself to fix the card. Here are some suggestions:
One thing to try is disabling and then re-enabling the device through the device manager.
Another thing to try, go to the command prompt where you did the ipconfig, and type
IPCONFIG /release
then type
IPCONFIG /Renew

Those two commands have fixed many "dead" ethernet cards.
If those commands don't work and fix your problem I recommend giving this utility a try:
WinSock XP Fix
Does the computer recognize that there is an ethernet card in the system? Have you had any viruses or spyware/malware on the machine recently?
