Question about Panasonic Toughbook 48 Notebook
So i recently aquired a CF-48 from my grandfather because of a keyboard issue, anyways it smelled like cat pee so i pulled the keyboard out rinsed it with luke warm water and allowed it to thoroughly dry for 4 days.
still having issues the following keys dont work: i o p l ; \ enter, backspace, right shift
Ive pulled the keyboard apart and inspected the contact pad. thinking that the computer is possibly disabling keys that remain depressed on start up i flexed it much like you would flex a stack of paper before putting it into a printer.
while all the other keys operate more smoothly now, the keys originally out still dont work. when it was appart i did not see any damaged traces whatsoever. could it be the keyboard just gave up or is it something more sinister within the computer itself?
Since all of the failing keys are on the right hand side, I'd try a short (maybe 15 minutes) soak in warm soapy water of the right hand 1/2 of the keyboard. While it is soaking, every few minutes try depressing the failing keys several time each. Follow this with a good rinse with warm water and a good drying. A hair drier will help to speed up the process. If that doesn't work, you'll probably need to find a replacement keyboard.
