I have a blodgett zephaire gl oven. unit kept buring up 24v transformer, was old bad centrifical switch in motor. I replaced motor with brand new one, unit still buring up 24v transformer.....why ?

A short somewhere causing it to overamp. Put a 3amp inline fuse on the secondary side (24v side) on the hot wire. This will save the transformer and blow the fuse not the transformer. The centrifugal switch prolly wasn't bad. So I would trace the wire coming off transformer and look for bare wire or loose wires. Anything that would cause a short

Where is the transformer located on a turbochef tornado

There are 2 hv transformers. If you take the right side cover off, they are towards the top of the unit. I think you need to take the top cover off, as well, to replace them. If you google turbochef tornado, there are very detailed repair manuals available for free. They shouldn't be hard to replace yourself. You might need to replace the capacitor (s) too. If it won't stand up on its own without falling over then good chance that is shot too. Remember to take a picture before you take everything apart, so you know how it goes back together. Remember to unplug!!! :). These are pretty easy to work on yourself. A service call will cost you at least $500 to replace a fairly cheap part. I learned the hard way. Below is a pic of a transformer, capacitor and mag. They were all bad. Eventually a bad mag will ruin your transformer and capacitor. 8ac8c2ce-4199-46ea-9981-2a2ee5dc9570.jpg c10f5a3f-ab72-45d5-94a0-8faed3674ea8.jpg 1f8362be-530d-497c-83d4-1ba6d05c9557.jpg

I have a LG LRE30453SW Electric Range and the relay pcb keeps going bad. I get an F7 error when starting the oven. The first time I noticed the black line in, from the power terminal, to the relay pcb was...

First, check the 220v line and breakers are properly grounded and that you are getting a constant 220v at the plug. Then you will need to check the transformer on the unit.To test a transformer you need to know what type of transformer it is first. There is a step up transformer which steps the voltage up and a step down transformer which steps the voltage down.
You will still test the transformers the same way for step up and step down transformers. If it is a step up transformer apply the incoming power to the transformer or plug it up. Now take your multimeter and place it on the AC volt scale and test the voltage if the voltage on the data plate says the transformer should step up to 220 volts and it doesn't then your transformer is bad.
Now repeat the same steps for a step down transformer. Plug up the incoming or primary power and test voltage on the outcoming or secondary side the voltage should step down to the proper value. If you don't read any voltage on the secondary or outgoing side then the transformer is bad.
To read the voltage place the two meter leads on the secondary side, or the side you will plug your equipment into. If the secondary side is an outlet then place the two meter leads into the top two slots in the plug and read voltage. You also want to make sure the incoming power is working as well. Otherwise you will be reading a bad reading every time.
If all that looks good, then you will need to replace the control board. Here is a link to the parts for your range.
Regards,Richard

I have a whirlpool double oven, self cleaning. I do not know the model number right now. We woke up this morning, and not sure if there was a power failure in the house, but the oven display is out. The...

HI,
Sounds like you need a repair person to check out the power to your display (clock), If your clock has power but will not display you could need either the transformer (low voltage 12 volts) or a ERC (which is the clock). Lately I have noticed transformers have been on the rise in several of these models. Also the transformer is alot cheaper than the ERC. If you can test this, you will find the connection you need is on the board as you tip the control panel, you will find the light blue wire bottom right of the control board. If you have 12 volts to the clock there, your clock is bad, in not your transformer has failed.
If you have never done anything like this call someone to help you, Be safe with electricity!!!
I hope this helps

F 3 mag error. had a bad magnetron and hv transformer. went head and changed both hv transformers, diodes, caps, magnetrons. worked for about 5 hours and its back to blowing f3 fuse. Any ideas

F3 errors can indicate a mag problem. Did you replace both mags? It can also be a door switch. If your fuses are good, you need to inspect the 2 magnetrons. If you have a burned tip on one the waveguide and waveguide cover it will need to be replaced.

I have a f3 mag current error is coming.... and it is not heationg the sub enough...

F3 MAG CURR means you have a problem with the high voltage system in your oven, the microwave circuit.

The next part is extremely dangerous, if you have no background in electric STAY OUT. CALL A PRO you will be working with 5000 volts.

With that said you will need a clamp on ampmeter to measure the current to narrow down the problem.

Discharging can be done by unplugging the oven and then short across the red wire on each capacitor to the chassis with an insulated screwdriver.
1. Remove the top and right side covers.
2. Enter the test mode. (From the OVEN OFF mode, simultaneously press
BACK and ENTER keys, enter the code 9-4-2-8 and press ENTER).
3. Place amp meter on the brown "ct" wire for amp reading. Wire is coming from the primary side of the
HV transformers and looping through the black plastic current transformer on the main control board and back to the HV transformers.
4. Press and hold the MGTRON soft key on the keypad to energize the magnetrons.
5. Observe the amperage on the meter. Typical readings are:
NORTH AMERICA: 12-14 amps at 240VAC/13-16 amps at 208VAC.
If you are getting 12-16 amps then change the I/O board.

If you are only getting 7 or 8 amps then only one side of the of the HV system is not working correctly. You will need to figure out which side is bad by un-plugging the power wires going to one of the HV transformers. Then test again and if you get no amps you have found the bad side. Replace the HV transformer, cap and diode.

If you are not getting any amps then check the F3 fuse it will most likely be blown. Replace and start over

Installing transformer in Zephaire G--need electrical schematic

Hi, if you could send me more information about this unit, I am sure that I will be able to tell you how to wire it. Transformers are fairly easy to wire. If I know the voltage you have and, the voltage you want, then tell me about this transformer. I need to no the power coming into it such as 120volts in and you want to step it down to 24volts? Or, 220, 240, 277, and so forth in, then tell me the voltage out that you need to connect to like maybe 120 out? Also, please tell me after this transformer is wired in with the correct voltage in, and what that voltage is, tell me the voltage out and what you are going to control. We can solve this if you tell me these things I have asked you. Thank you, I will be waiting.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7

Need to change oven from 440 3 phase to 220 single phase hobart cn90 oven

It can be done with a transformer, 480/ 240 single phase transformer to get the lower voltage. Then the oven will require some wiring changes to get all the elements and controls connected to two hot wires instead of three. The transformed will be sized to the wattage rating of the oven. This is a only basic description of what needs to take place.

The transformer in our ge double oven is broken and we are unable to find a replacement part. GE says the part is not available and we have searched the internet as well.

If you have the specifications for the transformer try Radio Spares? Other than that, try, take the transformer to a motor/transformer rewind shop.
GOOD LUCK
