Question about Amcor Dehumidifiers

Open Question

Spare part for AMCOR QT120

There is a tube that fits into a hole on the right hand side of the unit down the bottom. Apparently when you turn the unit on water comes out of the whole and there is meant to be a stopper and/or a tube to filter the water into a bucket. I purchased this secondhand and the seller didn't have the tube. Do you know where I can purchase one?? Thank you

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore 54501 dehumidifier

hi,

somewhere there is a "knockout" or "plug" or something similar you have to remove or replace it to get it to drain through the hose, there should be some documentation in the owners manual about it, try troubleshooting in the back of the manual. If not look directly into the hose outlet and see if theres a plastic plug there, if there is use a screwdriver or something similar to GENTLY remove the plug, you may have to just study the machine when its running to get a better idea of how the water drains, maybe the machine came with something like it in one of the plastic bags the accessories came in.

good luck

SOURCE: Unit is repeatedly freezing up

Almost all dehumidifiers now have automatic defrost, but if you are seeing frost is just one small area, it means there is a refrigerant leak. Check your warranty to see if the sealed system is covered longer than one year. Generally, if it is, most manufacturers will replace the unit (rather than repair it, as the repair is rather expensive compared to the cost of a new unit). If you do not have any sealed system warranty coverage left on it, don't fix it. Buy a new dehumidifier.

SOURCE: Water leaks from the bottom front under the bucket.

Try cleaning the filter first. Wash it with water and let it dry overnight. Then make sure no debris is blocking the inside of the spiggot which fills the pan. The spiggot can get blocked by dust anddebris or insect webs. Clean thoroughly with a rag and your finger.

My Goldstar DH305 is leaking water. I've cleaned the filter and coils and have taken the bucket out and put it back to be sure that it is in properly but it is still leaking.

Terryle. the problem may very well be a clog in the drain tube to the bucket. Even a partial blockage can cause it. Follow the instructions below to resolve the problem.

1. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF & Unplug the unit.

2. Remove the water collection bucket from it's holder and set it aside.

3. Inside the top of the bucket holder cavity, you should see a small tube or hole that drains water
into the bucket.

4. Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (NO wire coat hangers, though) that is
appropriately sized to fit into the hole or tubing. Carefully insert the tip of the Zip Tie into the hole
and continue to insert it, until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly, work the
Zip Tie past this bend. Until it bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly remove
the Zip Tie while rotating (twisting) it. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared,
as some water may follow.

5. Reinsert the bucket into it holder, making sure that it fits "squarely" from top to bottom into the
holder. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set you humidity
extraction control on 32 to 35%. If you have a manually controlled unit, set it on Maximum and
take it for a test drive. In about 30 minutes or so, you should be able to tell if it's still leaking or
not.

Hope this helped you to solve the problem. Please let me know.

Our dehumidifier isn't draining into tank anymore and shuts off.

Daniele, the drain hole or drain hole tubing, that that flows thru to the bucket may be clogged. To loosen & remove the clog, do the following:

1. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF & unplug the unit.

2. Remove the bucket from the unit.

3. Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (NO wire coat hangers, though). That's appropriately sized to fit into the hole or tube. Carefully insert the Zip Tie in to the drain hole or tube and continue to insert it until you reach a bend in the tube. You must gingerly work it past this bend, until the Zip Tie bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Slowly pull it back out while rotating (twisting) it, This will help dislodge any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow.

Completing the above, should dislodge any clogs and water will start draining back into the tank. Be sure that you have the humidity extraction level set on 35%, after you turn the unit back ON.

The problem you're having sound like the drain tubing to the bucket is partially clogged. But, it is resolvable. Here's what you'll need to do.

Turn the unit OFF & unplug it from the wall. Remove the bucket and at the inside top of the bucket holder, you will see a hole or a tube that drains water into the bucket.

Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (NO wire coat hangers, though) that is appropriately sized to fit in the drain hole or tube. Carefully insert the Zip Tie and work it in, until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work it past this bend, until it either bottoms out or your run out of usable Zip Tie. Then, slowly remove the Zip Tie while rotating (twisting) it. This will dislodge any clogs. Once you start nearing the end of the inserted tip, be prepared for some water to follow.

After completing the above, reinstall the bucket, making sure that it fits "squarely" from top to bottom into the bucket holder. The bottom should not tilt down at all. Plug the unit in, and turn ON the Master ON/OFF Switch. Lower the humidity extraction level to 32 -35%. If you don't have an LED screen on your control panel, set the manual control to Maximum.

One other thing that you want to do on a regular basis. That's remove and clean the air intake filter, if necessary. Be sure to turn the unit OFF and unplug it, before removing the filter.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Leaking on the floor

This can be caused by two things: The bucket is not inserted properly or the drain hole or tube inside the unit is clogged and needs to be unclogged.

When removing and reinstalling the bucket, make sure that it fits into the bucket holder "squarely" from top to bottom. When installed properly, the bottom of the bucket should not tilt downward at all.

To unclogged the drain hole or tube: Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit.
Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (NO wire coat hangers, though) that is appropriately sized to fit into the drain hole or tube. Carefully insert the Zip Tie and work it in slowly. You will reach a bend in the tubing and you will gingerly, have to work it past this bend. When the Zip Tie either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie, slowly remove it while rotating (twisting) the Zip Tie. This will dislodge any clogs. Once you near the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Unit does not start, shows E2 error, can you help on what that code means and resolution

I have searched and searched and have not been able to find an Owner's Manual for your model Amcor Dehumidifier. I did discover that Haier and Fredrich both have similar models, So similar, I suspect Haier manufactured them. But, neither the Haier nor the Fredich's unit have any information concerning Error Code 2. Plus, the ratings for your Amcor model were not very good. Seems that Amcor is riddled with problems.

In any event, lets try to solve your problem. First, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and remove the water collection bucket and the air intake filter. Check the filter closely for significant dust and dirt buildup and clean it if necessary. Make sure the filter is thoroughly dry, before placing it in the unit. Leave the unit unplugged for at least 15 minutes or until the filter is dry. Then replace the filter, insert the bucket - making sure that it fits swaourely from top to bottom into the bucket holder. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Hopefully, the 15 minute timeout has allowed the unit's electronics to reset themselves and they reverted back to the original factory settings. If so, set the controls to your liking and the unit should start and run like it should.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

It appears the hole or tube that drains water into the bucket is clogged. To unclog it, you will need an 18" long, plastic Zip Tie or something similar (No wire coat hangers, though) that will fit into the hole or tube. You will see this hole or tube, once you remove the bucket.

Carefully insert the Zip Tie and slowly push it in, until you reach the bend in the tubing. You will gingerly have to work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you reach the limit of usable Zip Tie. Slowly pull it back out while rotating it. This will loosen the clog. As you continue to pull it out, be prepared for some water to follow.

This should solve the problem. Hope it helped you.

I suspect the drain hole or tube is clogged and needs to be cleaned out. Turn the unit OFF and remove the bucket. Look for a drain hole or tube at the top, where you removed the bucket. Using an 18" long, plastic Zip Tie (or something similar, that's flexible. NO wire coat hangers) that will fit into the hole or tube. Carefully insert it as far as you can, You will come to a bend in the tube, but try to gingerly move it past the bend. Once you have gotten it as far as the Zip Tie will allow, slowly remove it, while rotating it. This will dislodge any clogs. Be prepared for water to follow, once the Zip Tie is removed.

Hope this helped you to solve the problem, Lynn..

How is the external tube for draining outside connected to the dehumidifier. Does the tube insert into the right angle nipple, then the threded end conected to a drain hose?

No. The tube inserts straight into the drain hole. Follow the 4 sets below.

1. Connect a garden hose to the threaded drain hose connector.
2. Remove the drain-hole cover.
3. Push hose connector tightly into the drain-hole on Rear Grille.
4. Press the hose down and make sure the "Arrow" on the tab is pointing upward.

NOTE:
The hose attachment will accept a standard garden hose fitting. Do not over tighten the hose when
connecting it to the hose connector, use a rubber washer and tighten by hand firmly without stripping the plastic threads. Be sure the hose lays flat and has no kinks, as it will not drain properly.

My Danby dehumidifier leaks out of the bottom. Water not draining into the tank but around the tank therefore out of the bottom between the tank and the dehumidier itself

The drain tube or hole that drains into the bucket is probably clogged.

Turn the unit OFF and remove the bucket. Look in the cavity where the bucket was removed for a drain tube or drain hole. Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (No wire coat hangers) , that's appropriately sized to fit in the hole. Carefully feed the ZIP Tie into the hole or tube and thread it as far as you can. At some point the drain will curve, but you have to carefully get past this point. Once the Zip Tie has reached as far as it can, slowly pull it out while rotating it. This will loosen the clog. Once you have it half way out, be prepared for water to follow. This method should solve the problem.

I would like to SEE a picture of how to hook up a hose from the DH to a drain.( no manual & cant find one for this DH 304) TO lift the bucket off & drain has become to heavy for me. Thanks,...

My DH 304 is a hand-me-down so I don't have a manual but it did come with a hose attachment which is plastic tube with a threaded end to which you attach a hose. The other end of the tube goes through a hole in the back of the unit and then through a foam screen inside the unit to slip over the drain plug. Aligning the tube and the drain plug can be tricky; it is helpful to remove the bucket to see if you're getting the tube onto the drain plug. Once you have the tube attached to the drain plug, align the tube in the hole in the rear of the unit so that the tab on the tube is inserted into the slot at the hole in the back of the unit.
