Question about Coby MP620 MP3 Player

Open Question

My "MUSIC.DIR" file is missing from my Coby MP620-4G. How can I get it? I think this is why mine can't read the format.

Will the formatoz take care of this?

Hey try to get the video file you are converting to .mtv to convert to .mov first.I had the same problems until I tried it that way.Someone else somewhere says mpg is a good format that the converter will read well and convert properly.I never tried it though. However I find that .avi files will give you problems. This is because .avi is a container not a format.

Also remember Youtube videos download as flv files and if you use MediaCoder like I do,to convert from flv to .avi you will have problems because the actual format will be Xvid and the container .avi.

fFor the sys err problem..visit the Coby USA website ...there is a firmware fix there. The actual link is on this site in another Coby mp 610 question.

I hope this works...let us know

Download Coby's video converter from their site and follow the instructions. It is a pretty simple program and works well. Here is the link:

HOW DO I UPLOAD MUSIC TO MY MP3 PLAYER

Hello Elizabeth,

To transfer music to your player, connect your Coby MP600 to your computer using the supplied USB cable.

Once connected, your computer will automatically recognize the player as a Removable Disk.

??To open the player to view files, double-click the icon that appears.

Once you have opened the player's folder, simply drag and drop files to the player as you would a floppy disk.

??Copy music files to the root directory.

??Copy movie files to the "MOVIE.DIR" folder

??Copy photo files to the "PHOTO.DIR" folder

??Copy text files to the "TEXT.DIR" folder.

After copying the files, disconnect it properly and you are done.

I hope this helped you.

You can rate my answer if you appreciate my help.

Thanks!

I Put a Mtv file on my coby MP601 2g and say unknown format, What should I do? and Why video not working?

Hi princessb515...
You are trying to play a video with the wrong video format...you have to change the video format for it to work on your MP3 player...
Check your manual to see what video format it needs...
It will probably be MP4.
Go to this webpage and download your FREE media format converter...

After formatting my mp3 it still won't let me listen to music. Unknown format.

Hi suez1256...

Format your songs that go on to your MP3 player to the format that will play, (probably MP3 or WMA)...using a format converter such as the one on the following webpage.

I have movie, photo and text.dir but NO music.dir on coby 620 MP3 player. WTF? It's brandnew, Xmas gift.

I had the same problem. Plug the player into your usb on your computer. Bring up "my computer" and find the letter drive of your player. All the existing folders (movie.dir, photo.dir, etc) should show. NOW, while your still in this folder, use your toolbar on the top of your screen to click on "file" and then select "new folder". Carefully type in MUSIC.DIR, click enter and you have now created your own. I did this and it seems to work as it should. It is weird that mine didn't have a music.dir folder either! Good luck!

You need to format the music you are adding to your player, because the format you are using is not the right format.
