Remove burn rack and clean out it is plugged

theres more things to check than just clogged burners! short cycling is one issue, flame roll out is another issue. clean out burners, underside of heat exchanger and all venting. if theres soot buid up underheath exchanger, then you have incomplete combustion from poor gas/air mixture. short cyclyingcan be caused by a faulty gas valve with poor continuity, dirty flame sensor, even a circ board not receiving current from flame sensor

SOURCE: Teledyne Laar 400k btu heater heater fires but wil not stay on

The most likely cause is a defective limit switch on the header. There are two limit switches, a "high limit" and a "low limit". They are mounted in wells next to brass plugs in the thermoplastic header just below where the water outlet is. They have shiny metal covers over them and you can see the wires going into the wells just below each cover. With time and use the brass plugs begin to seep pool water, corroding the sensors. If the sensors are open circuited the ignition controller will not allow the hot surface ignitor to fire the gas. Even though this is a failure of the limit switch it will show up on the diagnostic panel as "AGS" (automatic gas shutdown) because it is not a temperature limit problem but an "ignition problem."

SOURCE: PDA quit working and cannot override the system on control panel

I had a problem simmular to yours When I changed my remote I had to also change my antena. Also make sure youd dip switch settings are set the same. between the antena & remote. The only reset that I know of is in the remot. Go to Menu then System Set UP. Then clear Memory. You Will loose all programs like, Dimming relays temp settings times for off & on. etc. I think if you have a intella flo motor you will have to reset it also.

SOURCE: I have Jandy RS4 system with 4-button poolside

Pull the cover off the control panel. You will probably find a button which would be accessible from outside the panel with a paper clip or pencil but is unlabeled. On the board itself by the button, in small letters it should say "reset". Push the button and see what happens.

Heater pilot light will not stay lit after knob is released

99% of the time it is just dirt and dust in the pilot light. NOT a bad thermocouple! These units generate their own power through the pilot light and it has to burn perfectly. Turn off gas supply, remove the cover and the pilot light assembly, including disconnecting the tiny gas line from the gas valve. Blow compressed air in, around and through it to get dust out. Replace everything, use soap bubbles at gas fittings to leak test and light the pilot. I bet it stays lit.

I have Laars Lite2 125k BTU Propane. pilot stay lit and after some time hear click sound in gas valve but it will not fired up and also pilot goes off right away.

It sounds like you need to replace the pilot generator. This is the metal cylinder that sets in the flame of the pilot and supplies voltage to the system. When it gets weak, it will support the pilot valve to remain open, but when the main valve tries to open the pilot generator cannot provide enough electricity, and everything shuts down. It's a prime suspect in your situation.

Why won't the pilot light stay lit?

You have a "pilot generator" that sits in the flame of the pilot light. This generates a low voltage output from the flame of the pilot light. This voltage goes to the gas valve and tells the valve that the pilot is lit and to keep the pilot gas line open.
In almost all cases replacing the pilot generator will resolve the issue . They run about $60-$75.
Other causes may be the gas valve itself or a short in the safety loop, in either case should be looked at by a pool tech.

I can light the pilot light, but there is no gas flow to the heating element, thus heater will not light. Looking to replace control value, but can't locate one online. Where can I go to order new...

Gas control valve are very robust and will last last for years. If the pilot is not lighting the first thing is to check the fuel line from the cylinder up. Always run a leakage test as this will cause problems if you have a steel pipe that runs inside the pole - these can get loose and gas leaks from the locking nut. Use some plumbers tape/seal, for info on problem solving and leakage test see patio heater guide. Also check your tilt switch and try shorting it out before changing the gas valve.

Do not know how to start pilot light

There should be instructions on the inside of the heater access door. Make sure you are comfortable working with gas heaters. Make sure the shutoff valve supplying gas to the heater is on. Turn the gas valve to "pilot", press and hold it while attempting to light the pilot. Once the pilot is lit, continue holding the gas valve knob down for about 30 seconds. The pilot should stay lit once you release the knob. If the pilot stay lit, turn the gas valve to "on". Replace the heater access door and make sure you have proper water flow and attempt to light the heater. If it will not light, or the pilot will not stay on, you will probably have to replace the pilot generator. It provides voltage to run the heater and after time it wears out and produces less and less voltage. A millivolt heater runs on less than one volt so any power loss can be a problem. If you are able, test the pilot generator with a multimeter to see if you are getting at least 500mv when the pilot is on. If not, you should replace the pilot generator or even the entire pilot assembly. Hope this helps...

I have a Raypac C155A LP spa heater. won't light

I would agree with you. The pilot generator has probably degraded over the years and is only proving enough millivolts to power the pilot but not enough to run the gas valve for your main burners.

Replacing the pilot generator, preferably the entire pilot assembly, will fix the problem.

Can light it but it won't stay lit

The thermocouple is not producing enough voltage to keep the valve open. Try holding down for a longer period of time to allow the thermocouple to heat up, or you could have a loose connection on the gas valve. Loosen then Tighten all connections on the gas valve and try it again, if that doesnt work replace your thermocouple.

Laars LG 250,000 Bypassed Safty's But NO Burner Light

Have you checked your pilot generator voltage while everything is connected properly? You may have a shorted wire or limit or even thermostat. If you jump the TH connections on the gas valve, it would lead to shorted, inoperable safety, thermostat.

If everything is connected properly, the MV reading should be 500+, less than this and you are losing power somewhere.
