Overheating in amplifiers is often caused by a speaker load of too low impedance. If your L7 is a dual 4-ohm voice coil, and if you're using the amplifier in bridged mode, that may be causing your problem. Dual 4-ohm subs, with the voice coils wired in parallel, present a 2-ohm load to the amp. Your amp is capable of running a 2 ohm load in 2-channel mode, but not bridged mode. The best fix with your equipment would be to re-wire the sub's voice coils in series, resulting in an 8-ohm load. The amplifier's power output will drop sharply, but you won't have problems with overheating in that configuration. There's a good chance that you'll still be able to get all the volume you want, even with an 8-ohm setup; otherwise you'll probably want to switch to a mono amp designed for a 2-ohm load.

If your speakers not wired up properly sometimes the bass can shake the wire off and it leads to a horrible crackly noise, make sure it's securely wrapped around and tied to the terminal. Otherwise it could be a blown speaker or you are trying to put more power into the speaker than the speaker can handle.

I would suggest your crossover unit has failed in the speaker cabinet. The crossover circuit board separates the low and high frequency content of your stereos audio signal. The low frequencies go to the bass unit (woofer) and the high frequencies go to the tweeter speaker. If the capacitor on the crossover goes open or near open circuit then noise is introduced into the sound system. Replace either the capacitor or crossover unit.

Design: The BassLink brings together a 10" subwoofer (treated paper cone, foam surround), a 10" passive radiator (to increase efficiency and limit distortion), and an extremely efficient, specially designed 200-watt Class D amplifier that work as an integrated system. Special circuitry monitors voice coil position to maintain linearity at high power levels, so you hear loud, clear bass.

Enclosure Type and Materials: The enclosure is made of an acoustically inert polymer which is rigid enough to resist flexing and dampens any resonance.

Servo-Control: The servo-control system continually monitors the performance of the speaker and ensures that the amplifier delivers exactly the right amount of power.

Class D Amplifier: This unit has a built-in 200 watt Class D amplifier which is highly efficient and designed specifically for use with the subwoofer and passive radiator combination.

Auto Turn-On Feature: When the speaker level inputs are used, the system will automatically turn on and off with the radio. Note: The auto turn-on feature does not operate when the preamp level inputs are used, unless the remote turn-on lead is connected.

BassLink LC Remote Level Control

Overview: The BassLink LC allows you to adjust the volume of BassLink powered subwoofer.

Installation: The BassLink LC may be mounted under the dash or may be dismantled and mounted inside the dash for a factory appearance.

Under-dash Mounting: Select a mounting location that allows easy, safe access to the control while driving. The BassLink LC has mounting "ears" to use as a template for drilling pilot holes. Attach screws through the "ears" to secure the BassLink LC to the mounting surface.
In-dash Mounting: Disassemble the BassLink LC by removing the Phillips-head screws on the front, rear, and top panels. Remove the bottom and side panels and disengage the RJ11 connector from the back panel. Choose a mounting location that allows easy, safe access to the control, and provides 1-3/4" clearance behind the mounting surface. Drill a 9/32" hole in the mounting surface. Feed the BassLink LC's potentiometer (with the knob removed) through the hold and use the nut provided to hold the control in place.
Connecting to BassLink: Route the cable behind the dash or other interior panels and under the carpet. Do not route the cable outside the vehicle. Connect the cable on both ends.

Is the bass boost the gain or frequency knob?


Bass boost simply adds DB or gain to the bass signal. Some like it, some dont.
The frequency knob is the Low Pass Filter (LPF) that cuts off the amp output above
the set frequency. A bass system usually cuts off below 400 HZ and more often 200HZ.
A good, rattle your car bass note is in the 25-80HZ range or lower but most amps and audio
input devices cant attain a good low note with clarity.
"Low-pass filter allows only frequencies below the crossover point to be amplified. A high-pass filter allows only frequencies above the crossover point to be amplified - useful for keeping low bass away from small speakers, so they can play more efficiently."

We will start with the easy one, Phase. The phase selector is a setting that can be adjusted by sound; which one sounds better? Either one will work fine. It's mainly for situations where the sub enclosure is located at a distance or behind the listening area. The 'in and out' crossover selector and the input from the receiver goes together. The 'in and out' crossover selector is asking if you want to use the internal crossover to block the bass from getting to the satellite speakers. Most home surround sound receivers only have the one sub out and most subs have both left and right inputs. When there is a single signal being fed to the sub you use the subs left input or buy a splitter and send the signal into both left and right, but either way will work equally the same.

There is two ways to connect the speakers to the receiver.

1) Cross-over 'In': you connect the output speaker wires from the receiver to the speaker inputs on the sub and the speaker outputs on the sub to the satellite speakers; the sub will get its sound from the input speaker wires.

2) Cross-over 'Out': you connect the sub to the receiver using the receiver's single sub out, then connect the satellite speakers directly to the receiver's speakers outputs; in this configuration the satellite speakers are given a full range of signal including the bass.

I have used #2 with the same system and had great results.

How do i connect my pv2600amp to my peavey subs and top speakers, i have the leads but what do i do?


Line outs Left and Right from mixer to power amp Left and Right inputs,
Power amp outs to Subs(if they have passive crossovers built in check specs on subs).
From Subs then to Main spkrs. Make sure power amp is set in stereo mode using this way.

Alternative: You will need at least a 2-way stereo crossover unit inline after mixer and before power amps if the subs don't have a built in passive crossover. Most of them do have passive crossovers in the subs these days. Then separate amps or one channel would drive the subs and the other the main speakers. True stereo would require at least a 2 way crossover and two stereo power amps if hooking them up this way.

There is another option as is common with many sub setups. Send the signal to the mains using L/R outputs from mixer and a separate Mono output to the subs only. Putting only bass/kick and low frequency outputs in this send would help too.

You could go with a type of passive crossover, and that should allow you to also control gain as well as the bass input, and you can also go with a low pass filter as well. These are quite inexpensive at Wal-Mart and other places, and just run in-line with the wiring. There is no real cutomizability with the latter option, but it could be a means to get better sound while you save for a stronger crossover.

The B+ terminal on the amp goes to the Positive battery terminal with a fuse inline probably at least 60amp for this amp. The GND terminal of the amp goes directly to the chassis of the vehicle (metal) and try to keep the ground 18" or under. The REM terminal of the amp goes to the remote turn on wire from your deck, usually the BLUE wire. Some decks have 2 one for an amp one for a electric antenna. Dont hook it to the power antenna wire or your amp will only work when the radio is on. Won't work with the cd player. Hook the left and right inputs (rca) to your source unit (deck). Hook your speakers to the left and right channels of the amp with the correct polarity (+) (-) . Set the cross over on the amp HP-AP-LP for what ever application you are using it for like subs or components. There is a frequency adjustment for the crossover on the opposite side of the amp. This should be set in accordance with your crossover selector and speaker requirements. The punch bass knob should only be used with a subwoofer application. The left and right gain turn up or down the gains of the amp. (power output) These are set depending on the output voltage of your preouts (RCA) on your deck. A small flat head screw driver can be used. Set them between 1/2 and 3/4 if you dont know but make sure they are the same. Your ready to go. Hope this helps.....

Low-pass crossover
Both sets of inputs sum the left and right channels together and the
resulting signal is passed through an adjustable low-pass crossover before
being amplified. The crossover control allows you to adjust the upper limit
of the subwoofer's frequency response from 40 to 120 Hz. The subwoofer's
response will begin rolling off above the frequency you set this control to.
You should set the crossover frequency to obtain a smooth and seamless
transition from the subwoofer to the main speakers in your system. If your
main speakers are smaller units with limited low frequency output, you
may wish to choose a higher frequency (such as 100-120Hz) than you
would with larger speakers which have greater low frequency output. With
larger speakers, you might start with this control set lower, such as 80Hz.
