Volvo penta TAMD70E impeller replacement

I replaced an impeller but water is not flowing out Of my deck wash. Please explain how or what could be possible reasons why ..

First check the switch-- does it have power, then check the solenoid to see if it works-- there are two. One is for down, One is for up. If you get power from the solenoid-- outgoing-- check connections going to pump motor.

I owned one diesel engine. I would say the engine siphoned the diesel after it was shut off.
The throttle controls may not be closed. The injectors were tested for their opening and spraying, but were they tested for closing and sealing when off? Diesel fuel lines maintain a vacuum or they get air bubbles. Cooling cylinders create a draw right into the crankcase. Last idea-crankcase vent clogged

Kind of sounds like the trailer switch is in control. Many of these switches have lockouts and if you move the outdrive past the trip point the other solenoids are dead. Watch fingers. There may be a tilt switch on the water side of the transom in the pivot housing.

Bad drain pump relay?

Possibly a foreign object in the pump that when disturbed by water flow is blocking the impeller. I once found a sewing pin in the pump of a machine. It would sit in a recess in the pump and sometimes jam the impeller when disturbed by the flow.

I have a 1985 bayliner with a 125hp volvo penta with 270 outdrive... i have 2 Q's 1. today the boat overheated pretty quickly, i think the thermostat has had it. after talking with some local boaters they...

It could be the thermostat is stuck in the closed position, but if you hear a troubling noise coming from the outdrive, I suspect the water pump impeller that is located in the outdrive is in need of replacement. A bad impeller in the outdrive will not assist in pumping water up to the engine, and will cause an engine to overheat quickly. The rough sound could be directly related to the impeller also, but could also be a different problem with the u-joint assembly or another outdrive internal component. Overheating can be caused by several things; Defective outdrive impeller, defective thermostat, clogged riser or manifold, defective engine mounted water pump assembly. These are the most common areas, but since there is a noise coming from the outdrive, I would concentrate trouble shooting this problem starting with the outdrive impeller assembly.

"F02" is a Long Drain error code. This is an indication of an obstruction somewhere in the drainage system. This could be the reason why water is being left in the wash tub. In most cases, the drain pump reservoir needs to be cleaned out. The following link explains how:

If you check the drain pump reservoir and the problem still persists, you may have a pump with a damaged motor/impeller, or something lodged in one of the drain lines. In particular, the drain line that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the pump.

I recommend you remove the inlet hose, as well, and inspect for clogs. In is common for small garments to become lodged in this area and restrict water flow to the drain pump. Check the output drain line for obstructions as well.

It does not take much to damage this small drain pumps. The error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes. So...if the impeller or motor become damaged, and the pump does not pull water at the correct volume, you may still experience the drain error. In this case, you will have to replace the pump in order to get the error to clear. The following link explains how:

All the gear lube on my bravo III leaked out. The oil came out where the prop and the lower unit meet.

we had replaced the engine in our 87 4.3 star craft and when we put the omc cobra stern drive back in we now dont have foward gear, we have nuetral and reverse. could it be the linkage or could it be the shifter cable or any other idea's that could be the problem.

I have a two cylinder volvo penta saildrive 2002 model, their seems to be little or no water coming from the exhaust when the motor is running. i have recently antifouler the leg and cleared the water...

Check your impeller in the seawater pump ( at the front of the engine )
If the impeller blades stays even lightly bent after removal, change the impeller.
Check for obstructions in the hoses.
Remove the water hose going to the exhaust.
Run the engine, if here you have a good water flow ( more than at the exhaust itself ) the the exhaust mixer is obstructed. Try to clean out with HCl acid. USE ACID resistand GLOVES. Rince twice as well after the obstruction is gone...
